Apparently he likes me

Recently a boy had told me he liked me, I don't believe him. Mainly because I don't feel anyone could or would truly like me. Im very insecure about myself and is most likely why I have never been in a relationship before. My misanthropy also holds me back from wanting a relationship. He says nice things to me, even compliments me etc. But still I feel they are all lies and there is nothing to gain. What to Do?

        Perhaps you should find a way to trust people.start with friends and move further. Or try talking to the boy without bringing up feelings at first. Not everything is all lies
