Anyone else appreciate medicine as much as i do?
So lately I've been thinking, and I've come to realise that without modern western medicine, we'd all be fucked. As a child I just took whatever medicine I was told to when I was sick, and that was that. I never considered learning how or why the medicine works, but lately I'm beginning to comprehend just how important medicine really is.
I often look up remedies online for all sorts of ailments, and I find it rather astonishing how many people try every last homeopathic, home remedy and old wives tale they can possibly come up with before they actually just suck it up and take normal, effectiveness-guaranteed western mecidine.
To be honest, it kind of irritates me when I tell people I have to take this and this medication, and they start rattling off all the side effects of the medicine and how awful it is and how I'm going to get cancer. Do people just not realise that modern medicine actually greatly improves if not saves lives? Or is it just another trendy thing to do these days to be so against medicine, like how everyones suddenly becomming vegan?
Seriously, if it wasn't for medicine, the ones I take anyway, I would be living a very inconvenient, stressfull, painful life. I'm ridiculously thankful for having access to take medicine for all my issues.
Does anyone else appreciate medicine the way I do? Is anyone else on chronic, long term and absolutely nessecary medicine and would like to share what it is, and what you take it for?
I currently take Ovral birth control pills for a few upsetting gyneacological issues. Believe me, the strongest birth control pill in exsistence was not my first choice, but its nothing short of a miracle drug. I also take Prednisone cortisone pills for chronic eczema, whenever I have a flare up. I'm currently on a course of 20mg twice daily till my flare up clears.
