Anybody else hate people who dont make an effort when they cook?

I haven't seen many people who don't take genuine pride in the food they prepare for themselves and for others but of the few I have seen, it repulses me. Its not like I'm spoiled and expect to be served cuisine if I'm eating as a guest at someone's house, hell, this isn't even about the food I eat. Every meal I eat, prepared by myself or not, is pretty damn tasty. I'm talking about people who cook meals, but take absolutely no pride or make no effort in making the food look or taste good at all, now I don't mean put edible flowers on the plate for decorative purposes or some shit, I just mean, how difficult is it to make sure your food isn't dried out and gross looking? Especially if you're cooking dinner for people other than yourself. It makes me angry and annoyed when people, even those in their late twenties or older, either don't know how the fuck to cook or don't care to make an effort when they cook. I'm 19 years old, and take pride in every meal I cook. Everytime I cook something, I always ask my boyfriend if he liked it, how the flavours were, if I should cook it differently next time. Everyone I've ever cooked for has complimented me on the flavours and textures of my food and some have asked for recipes. I make a pretty bad ass lasagne dish, cannaloni and gnocci aswell. I love italian pasta dishes and rich, creamy, tangy flavours. I love to experiment with spices and sauces to get the perfect balanceof flavour and I always make sure my food is never dry and tasteless. I can make a few tasty desserts too. Vanilla souffle, bread & butter pudding, chocolate tart, cheesecake, baked orange pudding, toffee pudding, the list goes on. I'm not a fantastic cook at every single thing I attempt and wouldn't be cooking fillet steaks for the family anytime soon but I sure do take pride in what I do know how to cook but some people are just so fucking lazy and pathetic when it comes to cooking food. I've seen people throw all sorts of weird shit into a pot, boil it and call it stew. No flavour, no texture, nothing. Also, I've seen people attempt mac and cheese, thinking one egg is a suitable substitute for cheese sauce or white sauce. IT IS NOT. Pasta dishes need some sortof sauce, especially before they get baked, otherwise you end up with a rock hard pasta cake. I can't understand why people would be too lazy to do cook properly, or atleast be willing to learn? Does anyone else feel this way?

  • I make an effort everytime I cook, whether its for myself, myself and my boyfriend, or the whole family. My cooking takes time, prescision, but I make an effort and everyone likes my food. Another reason why the user who made a post about house partners being lazy, infuriates me. Cooking takes long. Anyway, not the point. The point is, I believe all food should be made with love, time, dedication, otherwise hey, don't cook. Order food from people who know how to cook. The laziest thing I do when it comes to cooking is probably taking something out of a frozen food box (chicken kiev, chicken schnitzel, etc) and placing it in the oven. Sometimes I make my own chicken kiev and stuff like that, that's if I'm cooking for everybody. If its myself, I make en effort with sauces and stuff but the main product is usually something processed but ONLY if its for me and only me.

I have to be picky about food for health reasons. Most people don't get it and even if they try, they still get it wrong. After a while you stop caring and pack a cooler full of food when you have to leave your kitchen behind. Half the time I can't eat what is prepared for me anyway so the presentation doesn't matter. My friend makes the best oven baked mac and cheese but I'd never know because she uses breadcrumbs. Fuck that processed shit.

Sorry for being nosy, but what are your health reasons? Just curious because my mother can't eat most foods too, yet she cooks amazing. I'm not OP btw, just curious.

I have an intolerance to corn. I can't digest anything with corn or corn by-products in them. This means most processed foods are off limits. I read labels. Sauces and marinades are off limits unless they are made from scratch. Corn hides in things like dextrose, maltodextrin, modified food starch, baking powder, and even french fries. Even some medication uses corn by-products as a binder. It sucks. Although I think this is more of an issue living in the US. I don't believe Europe uses as much corn as we do in packaged foods.

I'm a great cook too. At least I've had no complaints.

Oh, jeez, wow. I have never heard of this before...my mind's a little blown! Had no clue corn was really present in so much stuff.

Lazy ass people like that are making others suffer. At least they should have the decency to put frozen food in the oven. What could be easier?
