Are there any inborn differences between men and women personalities or are we just products of society?
If we are products of society, then the differences would tend to vary according to the groups we associate with; I would imagine.

Men are better at decompartmentalising their emotions much more easily than women. The difficulty this creates is that it limits their understanding of emotionally led issues.
Women are better as seeing the the bigger picture and implications that small actions/emotions can have. The difficulty this creates is a tendency to over analyse and see more than there is.

I found in school anyway one difference between guys and girls is when a guy has falls out with another guy they will physically fight eachother but girls will bitch and backstab eachother a lot of the time. Neither way is succesful in solving arguements obviously but this is just behaviour i noticed when i was in secondary school. Hopefully we all grow up after school..well some of us lol.
Men are generally less emotional than women, however those w/ bipolar disorder are emotional if either gender.
As far as women not being selfish that's not entirely true, because from what I've seen they generally do get what they want.haha
When it comes down to it I believe in innate differences being a big cause, but to never count out the environment they were growing up in either.
Different hormones/brains, different nature. Wikipedia has a fantastic article outlining sex differences called "Sex and Psychology." Each sex has it's advantages and disadvantages to an approximately equal measure.
u cant talk about personality at the newborn age. but i suppose i understand u. i would answer no. if u place for example girl into harsh and tough environment she will lack sweet characters. vice versa. its genetic
Being born female and having transitioned,my personality never changed. Due to hormones I became more aggressive for a short period (as a teenage boy does can be when starting puberty) but my personality itself never changed. When I meet new people they don't ever say my personality is too female. personality is not correlated with gender from my experience.
Hormones help shape our personalities, as can inherited factors. Male and female brains have some general differences, most of which relate to the activity of certain parts of the brain (empathy, spacial reasoning etc.). So there are biological differences that affect our psychology and our personalities.
Nurture plays a far greater role in our idea of female and male roles, but to deny that there are biological differences in our psychology that result in certain gender-specific tendencies would be to deny scientific fact.
personalities are not bred, they are formed over time and through learning about their environment. sometimes they are formed as a result factors that are innate, such as sex related hormones which may change ones perspective on the world, but the choice to make that an issue or not, is the result of ones treatment and experience.
people can change things about their own personalities. We can reform ourselves, but we cant change how we were born.
sexuality and gender identity for example are separate from personality. Although they can influence personality, they CANNOT BE influenced by it.

Women = Insane, because they go through hormonal changes that affects them both physically and psychologically each month. This process begins and puberty and ends after menopause which forces them to ride and emotional and biological roller coaster for the greater part of their lives. Only to be capped off by later years lacking the essential estrogen hormone again sending them into a free fall from emotional and physical stability. Sorry ladies you are condemned to a life of fluctuating states of insanity.
Men = Saner than women but still hormonally driven which forces them to attach themselves to people/things in order to fulfill sexual gratification and/or the gratifications associated with power. Sorry men your mind is weak and you are driven by all the wrong things.

Men rule the world because women let them. Simple as that. Matriarchal societies existed before Patriarchal ones. If you think that a man can rule a woman simply because of brute force and brawn, consider this: Women can choose to fuck, marry, and get impregnated by tiny men. Since men want nothing to do with the raising of their off-spring, women can also get rid of the big-boned, beefy male children at their leisure and chalk it up to an accident. They could serially abort males, actually. And what is their puny husband going to do about it? Nothing. Eventually, because of this eugenics plot, women would be in the majority on the planet and we would be huge Amazons and practically all men would be tiny and effeminate.

Neither sex is inherently better or worse over all. If a person argues about one sex being better than the other; to me that person is wrong.
We are all human beings anyways and humans are idiots; both men and women.
Perhaps in general, but you will always find a significant number of individuals who do not have the innate traits they would be expected to have because of their gender. There are probably both social as well as biological causes for these traits.
I think women have the kind of intelligence we will need more of in the very near future. As 'It Duz' mentioned men are better logio-mathematical reasoners, I think this has been proved, but I couldn't cite anyone. Anyway, look at where all that logic and problem-solving skill has got us: an ecological crisis. If we aren't going to completely erode our resource base, we are going to need more caring and empathy-like qualities (definitely female) and less individualistic, striving for dominance qualities (definitely male).
The crises we face probably have more to do with the generally male trait of risk-taking than with logic.
Possibly, but I think both men and women take risks. Men perhaps more in the pursuit to be the alpha-male (dominance I mentioned above), so I wouldn't say risk-taking is inherently male. I mean, doing anything for the first time is risky, whether you are a man or woman.
Very interesting question. My personal view is that differences between men and women are both environmental and genetic. I don't think any of us could easily tell you which differences are a product of which influence, though.
Women are smarter?
Thats why women build and design homes, cars, planes, boats, trains, aircraft...?
Thats why women set up distribution routes for the food you eat and grow cattle for the meat you eat and farms around the world...?
Thats why women own 99% of the companies that make everything you enjoy on a daily basis, from the phone you talk on, to the soap you bathe with, to the bed you sleep on etc.

Actualy that is wrong. Im not saying that the average women can never be as smart as an average man because thats just stupid but men have more (I think its called grey matter or something) in their brain which is used for problem solving, maths etc and males have far more of this quality than females, which problem solving and maths etc and the others things that need this quality is mostly needed to survive in this society. Now im not saying women cant be as smart as men im just saying its far easier for men to be smart but they tend to be the lazy gender where as females are more determined and work harded for the success they achieve.

I think females have unstable when it comes to emotional things though which can lead to bad judgements etc but then again females could argue saying how men are extremely prideful and can be filled with arrogance which I agree on.

In nature, muscles are usually used at closer to 100%. We do use all of our brain, that myth as been rebuked. There are whales with much bigger brains than humans and scientist wonder if perhaps they use it to map the oceans. Of course, not all of our brain is used for thoughts but chances are we do use all of it for something or other.
Potential is far from a good way to show who is smarter though; at least in this society. Regardless of who has the bigger brain, I tend to believe that men and women are both just as smart; in different ways some times but regardless. I didn't realize that there where proven innate differences but I still believe that a lot of the differences aren't innate but much more dependent on society and the way we are treated.
