Anxiety about getting a job

I am in need of a job, and I really do want to apply for a job but I have no idea what to even put down on my resume or application. I do not know what a company is usually looking for when they see a teenage girl apply for a job, what do they want to see & hear?
I keep pushing away the opportunities of getting a job because I feel that it's a waste of time. Basically I am saying that I do not think I will get hired because of my age. Is it normal to think this way?

Try going to the unemployment office. They offer free worksops and guidence about exactly these kinds of problems. Even of you've never had a job! I learned slot from them when I was young and still know how to write a kick ass resume and application.

My first job was as a tradeshow model, i took it despite having anxieties about my looks and height and the fact that honestly I'd never ever worked before. They hired me because of my personality and the fact that I learn and oick up things pretty easily. Just step out of your comfort zone , maybe a bit of the unknown will help you get over your inscurities. You're a woman, you're powerful and beautiful. make use of it

If you haven't worked before - that's okay. Yes, as Squeegela said, they're looking for volunteering, babysitting and things. Including after school activities. Put that down.

I'm in my upper 20's, unemployed and putting in applications everywhere.. approx 200 in the last three months. The job market is bad but you can still find work, just be confident and positive.

Also, I am a manager of a large chain of stores. When I'm hiring, I look for availability, creativity, and past experience. I count volunteering as experience and have even hired someone who only had experience babysitting! It's all in how u "sell" yourself. If u tell me what skills u gained while babysitting instead of whining abou how much u hated it, iwould prob hire u. Good luck! This part of job searching sucks!!! ;(

I've been having the same problem. I just don't know what kinds of things to put on an application since I have never worked before. Plus it seems kind of pointless for a seventeen year old to apply for a job at the moment because, like you said, so many older, more experienced people are out of work and looking for jobs as well. :/

what to put on your application? You know, your blood type, favorite soda, what baseball team you cheer for, who your first crush was...you know things that are important.

What they ask is a test to see how much BS you're full of nothing else.

Why do you wanna work here?
    Answer: to steal shit

where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Answer: Taking your job as you get fired before the holidays

How would your friends describe you?
Answer: Manipulative, I've always been good at making about convincing lies on the spot
