yes it is normal nd christine its not normal that a squirel is eating another squirel its either ur lying or u thought it was squirel but it wasnt. i know this cuz im an intern at silva studying to be a vet. ants eat there young all the time.
My friend told me that when he was little he had two ant nests in his garden. He used to collect a handful from one nest and throw them into the other one so he could watch them fight.
Sounds sick, but I wouldn't mind watching that to see how they fight.
ant colonies may have gone to war. ants are very agressive over their land.
Ants fight and (I think) eat ants from other colonies. Normal.
And to schumacher:
No. It was an ant, not a black widow spider.
I think it is normal. Heck, I recently saw a squirrel in my yard eating another dead squirrel.
It's a perfect example of why Ants are smarter than us. I'll bet you a million dollars that the ant didn't just get done having sex with the dead one before he ate it.
hey man, people are f**king goofy!
check national geography. crazier stuff happens there than an ant eating an ant. A wasp will lay eggs on an ant, and its larve will eat the ant's brains, decapitate the head, and then burst out a few weeks later. Very cool
it's normal. ants are desparate cannibals when their former friends are dead!
Ants are very territorial and will fight to the death for their piece of ground and when they win the fight they have no problem eating their foe. I guess you could consider an ant a cannibal in its own rights.
