A lot of people think I'm a stuck-up b**ch (especially at work), since I'm not very sociable. It's not that I want to seem rude... I just have nothing to talk about, nothing in common, and I'd rather sit and do my work. IS this normal?
Yep, it is. I'm like that too. Why should I put on a mask just to entertain people? I like being left in peace.
In this day and age the stereotype is that if you dont like talking to people then something is wrong with you and you should get it fixed.
Personally I think that is a bunch of nonsense, I dont much like talking to people in general, work or otherwise. Besides most conversations in general are about stupid, generic topics like sports, weather, etc.
Most of what I say tends to be sarcastic and cynical anyway, some would say I am bitter, perhaps they are right, but I am at an age where I dont care one way or the other anyway. If you have friends, as in several, that you can spend time with and enjoy it then you are way ahead of the game anyway. Dont worry what others think. I sure dont.
As for work, its called work for a reason, b/c you are there to work, its not called fun or play. From what you said you seem to understand that better then the idiots who waste most of their time during the day.
Perfectly normal. I dont like to talk that much because i have nothing to say. And when i do talk things get akward.
This is normal but sometimes it's better to try and make the best of things. You may meet some cool people at work by opening up, I know I did. Just start talking about a Tv show or something.
I think it is. I have about 5 really close friends whom I have everything in common with. Most people i meet I just dont see anything i have in common with them so i just dont bother. Normal for me lol
