Anti-interventionism

I am extremely anti-interventionist. I don't want anything to do with war unless it's PURELY self-defense; I want to stop sending aid to third world countries; and, I don't agree with imposing embargoes and sanctions (unless they're targeted against individual leaders, as opposed to the entire country). Why don't most people, especially Americans, share my line of thinking?
