    I choose selfishness.

If humanity would work more for the whole of mankind instead of the individual, we may overcome all the others.

I am thinking TOTAL absence of selfishness, rather like in an ant colony.

the idea of communism is pretty close, but without supernatural "change of facts" won't work out.

I agree with Gotham, but I think I will go with hate. I think all evil comes from hate including greed. If you look in history most things came from greed which in turn came from jealousy and so on. The remainder would be hate. So, hate would be the root of all evils. If there was no more hate, then there would be no more wars and so on. People would still have some bad qualities, but then again would they? If hate is the root of all evil and then is taken away, wouldn't that get rid of all the other negative qualities of man?

I would take away emotion and willpower. So that we could control them.

  • Hate. Most of the things on the list are only a problem if they have hate mixed in with them.

I am caught between selfishness and dishonesty.
Selfishness and Greed go hand in hand in my head.

I have seen many families and relationships and hell... many institutions of the world become ruined by selfishness.

Selfish desires to be "right" all of the time and force thousands upon thousands of people to conform to a totalitarian religion, selfish desires to have more money, more land, more resources, more than one could possibly need to live even the most fruitful, fulfilling and luxurious lives, selfish desires to feel the need to be accepted by others and do things like join gangs, follow the wrong crowd and make bad decisions (because you think "I'm only really hurting MYSELF").

In my eyes, selfishness can be the root of all good or all evil. In the end, we truly value ourselves the most - it's only rational! But when you become so selfish that you lose all sense of empathy and humanity, when you let greed completely corrupt you, evil is not too far behind.

I can't really choose between Greed, hate and dishonesty! I think I'll just say hate.

    Selfishness, too.
I agree with TerryVie. I think the world would be a better place if everyone thought about other people's well-being first instead of his own.

Greed. Because greed breeds all evil. It is catalyst for all the other remaining choices.

I voted envy for pretty much the same reason.
