Another double standard

I just scrolled past a Facebook post of this 3 y/o or so boy modeling as a man from the 50's era. The female written caption read "looks like my soulmate was born". I thought to myself, if that were a young girl modeling as anything that would be hella creepy for a guy to say that.

Then I thought about other things females say about little boys that would sound wrong if the roles were switched. For example, saying a young toddler is "my boyfriend" and jokingly bragging about young boys being in love with an adult female.

Do you think it's creepy when women do this? Or should it be acceptable for both genders to make these kinds of comments?

I personally think it's creepy for anyone to make romantic jokes involving a child, but I don't take it too seriously unless given further reason for suspicion. Am I being too uptight?

Yes it's creepy for both 22
No, neither is creepy 6
It's only creepy when males do this 8
It's only creepy written females do this 3

It's creepy for both. With that being said it's just the different perceptions regarding gender and more evidence of how much a joke "equality" really is. Young men "seduced" by pretty teachers in authority positions aren't considered "traumatized". Reverse the genders and that male teacher IS going to prison, no doubt about it. I'm sorry I used that filthy word equality, but I had to, it's necessary when showing how absurd the concept actually is.

but that's an example of inequality, it's a double standard.

How does an example of clear inequality show that equality is absurd?
or do you just mean that it's ridiculous that equality is supposed to exist, but obviously doesn't?

Yes, your finishing thought is the point I was making.

Its not really creepy if its good intentioned. Remember that scene in Titanic in the third class irish dance party when Jack is dancing with the little girl then he tells her that hes going to dance with Rose for a little bit, but shes still his "best girl". People have always done that with kids especially around family and friends and at parties. Men and Women. It makes kids feel really special

    • Yes, and I do believe that sometimes the intention is pure, such as in that scene. But do you realize how many children have been molested? Nearly everyone I know! That could, in part, be because children are given the impression at a young age that romantic relationships between them and an adult is ok.

I think most people who make these comments do so innocently, but perhaps they picked it up from someone with ill intentions who made these comments to them?

It's a massive double standard. I've talked about this issue before, plenty of movies make jokes about guy's getting raped but try making a joke about a woman getting raped.

You know what would be creepy?
If a guy complained to me that his period was really heavy and he needed to change his pantyliner.

It's mostly men who sexually abuse kids. That's the simplest answer.

    • What if there are more female abusers than we are aware of? Because of their general compassionate and nurturing nature isn't it possible that abuse by a woman would be less noticeable as abuse to a child and less likely to be reported?

I know more people who were abused by men, indeed, but I noticed with the one person I know who was abused by a woman there was a different effect. It did not seem to strike this person as wrong as it might have had a male committed the act.

For some reason, like with other crimes, such notions seem more forgivable when committed by a female.

Whatever, dude. I told you what the answer was and I hardly believe you didn't know that when you posted the question. JAQ off much?

        • If your children were sexually abused would you just let it go or would you try to find the root of the problem and taking a chance at preventing future incidences, for your children and others'?

I am female btw. Not sure if you were using dude as a general term or because you thought I was male.

Creepy females (and priests) are allowed to creepify little boys without any consequences. When these boys grow up to become creepy, they are severely punished for their strangeness.
