I've lived in a couple small white towns where there was literally ONE or 2 black guys, that's IT.

There'd always be a few local girls who would date 'the' black guy. They would just date whoever 'the' available black guy in town was. No matter what he looked like, what his qualities and personality were, he could be ANY black guy. Being black was the only criteria.

It's so wrong, especially to the poor black guy who has girls throwing themselves at him solely because of his skin color.

If it were just for sex, then OK-different story, but it's not. I'm talking about girls who want relationships with the black guy. In this day and age?? I mean, what about online dating, or travel a bit?? I could NEVER imagine dating someone just because they were the only guy around. I'd rather wait, or look elsewhere.

is it normal to think this is ridiculous?

    Racist girls, eh? They've just grown up in this area where their parents have been telling them to date "Jimmy" and "Bobby", all these scrawny white guys or i don't know (and the parents say this because let's be real, they're racist too). So all these girls don't want to follow along with their parents, like kids do, and they date "the black guy" to piss their parents off and gain that independence.

    Maybe these girls that seek out the black guys are actually rebelling against their parent's wishes, maybe they seek out attention (and this is the only way for them to get that attention) because they date every black guy that comes to town like you said OP. But realistically today when there are so many other ways for them to find guys who fit their description of a 'boyfriend' you'd think they would try to take a more realistic approach to find their true match and look outside the small town.

    They might not date these men just because they are the only guy around though. They might feel differently about them than you do.
    They might find black men attractive. Some people just tend to enjoy dating outside of their race more. I have been attracted to a few black guys in the past. Why not?
    It might not be just because of their skin colour. They might be attracted to the fact they are black at first, but once they get to know the guy more, they might also find they are highly attracted to his personality too.

      Yea, exactly what you just said. It is a persons preferences that they are attracted to. I for one rather brunettes over blondes but that does not mean I haven't dated some blondes. I do find myself picking a brunette over the blonde even if the blonde is considered more appealing. I am color blind about race. I am black and my last few girlfriends have been white because where I live, there aren't many black girls. I do not mind though, as long as a girl is attractive somewhat and has a great personality and not dumb as a rock.

        I am colour blind about race too. I haven't had the chance to date outside my race yet but have been attracted to many. As long as I am attracted to them, there is some chemistry there and they have a nice personality then why not?

          Agreed. To get to know some one intimately or personality wise, there has to be a physical attraction, most of the time. My current girlfriend is 75% German and 25% Jamaican but looks completely white and not mixed. I just loved her dark hair and curvaceous body at first lol, but after talking and getting to know her, I love her personality more.

            I agree with much of what you say. But could you imagine being in a black community and dating the only white girl JUST because she's there and she's white? I could see wanting to get to know her if you were attracted but not just being with her because she's the only one around especially if she doesn't have anything going for her. And IF IF IF you were attracted!! People look so different so I don't get just settling for the only one of their type that's around. That goes for any race. Being attracted to a race doesn't mean you're attracted everyone of that race.

            I'd never date someone just because they were the only one there.

            I know a couple girls who were like this so I do know more of the story and why they dated the guys they dated and what their relationships were like. Overall most of the relationships were terrible and most of the guys didn't have anything to offer, even in the looks department. I know that looks are subjective but when I say bad looking, I mean BAD looking. Some were cute and hot but many were just like anatomically wrong looking.

              Lol that would be completely biased to date the white girl just because she is the only one and is white. At the same time, if they prefer a white girl, than it is their preference. When in Rome, do as the Romans lol. I have white girls around me all the time so I picked the best one that I liked personality wise and continued the pursuit. I completely agree with what you are saying especially the part about settling for the only one of their type.

    That's not racist at all. They probably want him because they want to stand out in the crowd. It's not normal to be fascinated by seeing other races if you grew up in a monoracial area.
