American citizens: are you proud of your country?

Personally, I'm not. Too much greed. Seems like everything is about money. And often times, those that make the most money don't even deserve it.

Yes, I love America. I'm a proud patriot. 23
No, I'm ashamed of this country. I wish I lived somewhere else. 29
It's not the best, but I'm not ashamed of it. 30
I'd rather live in the USA than anywhere else. 11

Well, I love this country. It's beautiful, but it's kind of been bastardized. Like George Carlin said, it's like living in a coast to coast shopping center nowadays. Not to mention America polices the world, is WAY too corporate, not to mention how marijuana smokers and peaceful protesters are treated. I hate the fact that the Occupy folks get maced and arrested, while people like the Westboro Baptist Church (The Thank God for Dead Soldiers people, if you didn't know) can run around and preach hate without the slightest concern of law enforcement.

Forget One Nation Under God. We're One Nation Under High-Tech Surveillance. If I had it my way, I'd be in Europe right now.

I hate it too. I've lived here for most of my life and I still don't understand the country's reasonings.

The United States, along with several countries, are growing older - More room is opening up for the wrong political schemes to live. I've never traveled, but I do notice the idea of politics increasing in complexity over time.

Which may partially be due to us.

It's a little disappointing to ask the local public about voting habits. Not many of the grown citizens around me use this power often. Although, I have been raised in a home where registering to vote is the very first task on the "When I Turn 18" to-do list.

    So why withhold these opinions?

In these exponential times, two revolutions of Earth around the Sun is an incredible time to wait before earning the power to vote. Until then, a percentage of my income will be taken regularly without my representation at the booth. The open question: Is it logical?

I'm sorry about the length. Even so, thanks for investing the time to give the politics of this naive youth a listen. That being said, am I proud of my country? Yes. There are pros and cons for every nation; therefore, the path towards improvement will always exist - Every step of the way. Thank you for your time.

I think a lot of people who live in the U.S. have never actually travelled to compare, so their opinions are based on speculation and movie portrayals of the "outside" world. It's a great country as far as the people, and it has a high standard of living. Of course, the history albeit limited, contains many things that disgust me, and the political policies are lamentable. I think if we had the current internal policies of England and reverted to our reactionary foreign policies from around WWII, we would be the ideal country.

It's sad that we have to pay for health care. People are so incredibly greedy here that they charge others just because they are sick or hurt when it's not even their fault. It costs money just to have a baby!

There was this incident where a insurance company refused to cover a baby.

This couple were both covered, but they tried to get their son covered and the insurance company claimed that they couldn't because he was "too fat".

This happened a few years ago so, I don't know if it was ever resolved or not.

Thats ridiculous and insensitive. And it doesn't make any sense. 1. Babies aren't supposed to be thin. 2. It's not the baby's fault that he's "too fat". 3. whatever insurance company that was probably cost an arm and a leg for this couple, so who are they to deny their baby coverage?

Because, they didn't want to pay and america is stupid.

That's the only thing I could think of and the kid wasn't even "obese".

I'm from america and I've grown to become greatly ashamed of it.

    Everything is fucking corrupted!

It's gotten to the point that I've decided when I go to college or canada, to just stay in that country. Then, give up my citizenship and become a citizen of either Canada or Britain. At least, they care about their people and are relaxed on things. I wish had been born somewhere else...

I see no reason to be proud of something I had no part in making or shaping.

Everything is about money here. It began that way and it'll probably end that way.
