Ambien makes me sleepwalk

So I started taking ambien for insomnia and well it works... but I black out the last 15 minutes before I go to bed. I found myself waking up to texts I don't remember sending, and my URL history is weird shit too. But I don't remember any of it!!! It's like blacking out from alcohol. Does this happen to anyone else who takes sleep meds.

PS- Mine are prescribed and I will bring this up with my doc next time I see him :-)

  • Yep did the same thing to me. I would get up in the middle of the night make huge meals. The only reason I knew I did that was because I'd go in the kitchen the next morning to a huge disaster. I guess one night I called my friend and told her there was people in my house talking to me. I don't remember any of it and I quit taking it because I was afraid I was going to burn the house down.

i know its actually scary, but i keep laughing at this.

like its too bad you werent a better sleep cook, you could be waking up to a full meal in the morning,

Or that you didn't clean the house and never have to clean during waking hours, if only we could had harvested this power for good

      • Ha-ha. If only.

It was terrifying I woke one night to a house full of smoke because I put a pot on the stove on high. It was melted into the stove. Thats when I was like yea no more not taking it.

    • Yes! I find missing food in the morning too. Like "Didn't I have a left over sandwich from last night???" This shit is probably going to make me gain weight too. I will have to ask my doc if there is anything better I can do, preferably drug free.

      • I found that 5mg melatonin that I get from Walmart works pretty well for me. I also try to keep a schedule as far as when I lay down and all that. That might be a route you can try. I'm a really weird one where everything has to be the same when I lay down. I have to lay in the same position with the TV on no volume. I also run a fan. I don't know if you like to read but that helps me too. I'll lay down and read for a bit till I start feeling sleepy.

It can do that. After my older sister's divorce, I'd visit and sometimes crash on her couch or guest bedroom. She was taking ambien, probably too much, and, a few times, would come to me, talking about all sorts of odd stuff, and either stand there or walk around and go back to bed.

There were times, too, when she'd take my hand or poke me with her long, polished nails, telling me let's have coffee, she has to take her robe off because work soon and should I wear that skirt, you know, the one, you like me in.. Fun, random yapping.

You shouldn't take that shit. Try something natural that won't get you possibly arrested or hit by a car.

It's a common side effect. I find it to be terrifying, which is why I'll never take ambien.

I used to have insomnia but the older I get, the more it improves.

A friend of mine used to take Ambien and he would drive down to the convenience store in his sleep.
