Am i too paranoid?

ever since like idk nineth grade ive been so paranoid when people stare at me or i make eye contact with someone i kind of jump inside if you know what i mean and my face starts getting hot and i get nervous because i think their going to think im weird, it all started freshman year in highschool this girl used to really intimidate me and i couldnt do anything about it because she was older and i was scared she made me afraid to look in her direction because she told my friends i was weird for looking at her and they believed her and laughed at me now im very insecure and i can never look directly at people especially at pretty people when before i wasnt intimidated at all really. is this normal?
