Am i the only one in the planet who honestly prefers being single?

Some guys who have told me they liked me and whom I have rejected say mean and hurtful stuff like:

"You think you're too good for everyone"
"You're such a prude"
"You will die alone and nobody will ever want you"
and so forth.

I seriously don't understand. I've always been clear about WANTING to stay single. I know that I may come off as weird to most but I've always been happier being single. Most people who know me, know this. And when meeting new people especially guys, I make sure that I never seem like I'm flirting with them. I've never led anybody on and have always been polite when rejecting guys.

Why is it such a sin to honestly want to remain single?
Also, is it normal to feel this way?

    They're probably just stressed out by the whole thing when they say those mean things. No matter how polite and nice a rejection is, it's still a rejection and that's going to be hard to deal with.

    At the moment, I prefer being single too. I don't think I'm very good at being happy in relationships, but I'm good at being single at the moment.

    Most people crave companionship so it is difficult for them to imagine someone wanting to honestly be alone without some ulterior motive behind it. You see it as wanting to retain a lifestyle that keeps you happy and they see it as a blatant rejection of affection.

    Yep. You are the only person on the planet. Not a single human being on the face of this planet like being single. Not tribes in Africa, people who are about to die, islands that may not have been discovered. Out of all 7 billion people on this planet, you are the only one who likes being single.

      Haha. I know I'm not the only one. It's just that I haven't met anybody else who likes being single and everyone just calls me weird.

    I also feel the best on my own, I prefer spending time on my hobbies and with my friends and I don't have place in my life for another person right now. A lot of people do not understand this, but most of them are desperate guys who don't treat me seriously, they only want sex so I don't feel bad about it.

      Well, not really. But I'm okay with giving it up to be honest. I don't have a high sex drive. This could probably be another reason why I prefer being alone.
