I don't dislike gay people or anything, but I am uncomfortable getting too close to another guy (gay or straight) in any situation. For example a bunch of my friends stayed in a hotel room and I slept on the floor when I could have had a spot on a bed. I felt too uncomfortable sleeping beside a guy, so I let two other guys have the bed.

I'm not a gay hater, but am I homophobic? Am I normal?

    Strictly, yes. Homophobia means "fear of the same", i.e. other men. But no-one uses the term that strictly. Its accepted usage has been linked to sexuality, not gender. Given that you don't fear (or hate) people for being gay, you are not homophobic.

    I agree with what some people have said. You don't dislike gay people, so basically I wouldn't call you homophobic but... you shouldn't feel uncomfortable around your friends of you are all straight.

    Obviously, you have been raised in a culture that finds it unacceptable for a straight man to share a bed with another man under any circumstances. Because it's your culture's norm to behave that way, you are normal.

    You should also be aware that not everyone around the world, and maybe even people in your own country, share the same cultural values regarding male heterosexual behavior as yours. Since this is an international website, it's possible that not everyone would think your behavior is normal.

    It's totally normal. I'm a straight guy and being too close to another guy feels weird and totally turns me off.
