Am i bipolar, or is it just anger issues?

Well, I've always been kinda oversensitive about stuff,
for example, I will get angry and upset over little things
like how a person looks at me, or if they ask me question that I don't know the answer to.

Like, last night I was watching a movie with a friend of mine, and they suddenly asked me, " Have you seen this before?"

I don't know why, but I got offended and mad at them, and I stayed that way for about 20 minutes, I asked them, " Why would you ask me that?"

" It was just a simple question." They responded.

Eventually I got over it, and we continued to watch the film without me getting angry again. So, I believe it's obvious that there's something not right here, and I'm aware of this.

I know that I get angry and upset over stupid things and that it needs to stop, but I don't know how to control my feelings, they're just too strong sometimes to hold back.

Right now, I feel oddly happy and carefree, but I know that at any moment that could change and I could start feeling angry or depressed again.

I am 19, and don't do drugs or drink, so those things wouldn't cause this.

You sound like you just have a short temper to me. Bipolar disorder (or manic-depressive disorder as it used to be called) consists of extreme lows and highs in a person's mood. The person goes through these phases where they can be really active or hyper or happy for a while (hours or days even), then they change to feeling really low or depressed or sad. It is a cycle of highs and lows in moods.

That is what I have come to know it as. Somebody let me know if I explained anything wrong.

Of course, it would take a professional to determine if in fact you were bipolar. Based upon that one incident, I doubt it. However, you have a short fuse for some reason. You may want to see a professional to get the rest of the story.

I had never seen a person with a situation like that before unless you are a bad temper person.

  • That doesn't sound bipolar at all, but it's not normal either. You are over sensitive, but it's good you realize that because it means you can work on it.
Bipolar episodes are very different and usually last much longer.

It's good that you acknowledge the fact that something isn't right, and I hope you manage to overcome whatever causes your outbursts.
