Am i autistic?

EG i hello everyone, for the past 9 months ive been researching different disorders and conditions that I think I may have. I will give you some back story to why I think I may be autistic. Ever since I was a kid I was always the odd one out. Some people thought I was "special" and others thought I was just plain odd. I have had some problems with stuttering and mispronouncing for as long as I can remember although they arent extremily apparent they are there. I have been introverted since preschool. I only like to have a small group of friends (2 or 3). I have been known to become OBSESSED with very random things that most people wouldnt think twice about and this can last months or even years. I tend to take things very literally and people will have to explain it to me. I loath being touched by anyone even my mom, I just cant stand it. I have takenautism tests online before (cant afford the real thing) and they have all said I have autism. And I have always loved putting things in groups. Please vote and comment.

  • Theres isnt really much differance between aspergers and high functioning autism besides speech delay. HFA is just aspergers with speech delay. Being diagnosed wont make any differance unless your trying to apply for any benifits. Ive been diagnosed with aspergers quite a few times. A few things that might suggest an autistic spectrum disorder, Are you clumsy? Do you have a hard time knowing what your feeling? (alexithymia) Do you have trouble with empathising with others and reading facial expressions? These are things I have difficulty with. However like any mental differance not everyone is going to have the same symptoms. All so called mental disorders are just lables for having so many traits that are grouped together by psychologists.

Thier is a diffrent as asburgers can not think abstractly . It is siad for this reason they are not good at art and crafts or anything creative and diffrent. They do not understand the concept of lying and are often very blunt and honest about everything . poeple with Assburgers can be very high fuctioning and reasonably intelligent that is the opisite of Autism . As other Autisms are known for thier creativity and Artistic abiltys , thier abstract thought and can be intricate but have some problems sociolizing and never really have many freinds in these cases . Severe Austistic can be unresponsive to poeple but abstract and very creative but Assburgers is not creative at all becuase Abstract is something they can not comprehend as they are too absolute .

I don't think you really know what you're talking about.

I know 4 people with Asperger's and 3 of them are very creative - one is on an animation degree, another draws and creates his own comics, the third is a musician (who creates his own pieces on piano).

Also; "people with Assburgers can be very high fuctioning and reasonably intelligent that is the opisite of Autism" - that is total rubbish. It's not the opposite of Autism at all, people with Autism can be very high functioning and above average intelligence. Asperger's is closely associated with Autism (especially mild Autism) and there are many parallels.

I really think you should do more research before claiming to know about psychological conditions, or perhaps you should find some new *ahem* 'proffesioniols which your teachers have degrees in and you have had teaching you' so that they can correct all your misinformation and hopefully teach u sum inglish linguige n how to rite propa.

I swear you are just a troll. You even wrote Assburgers instead of Asperger's...

      • I don't know where you got your information from but its not all very accurate. People with aspergers can be very creative and often have savant skills as well. That doesnt go for everyone with aspergers though. Some of them might not be creative. Abstract thinking usually refers to things such as understanding metaphors. It has nothing to do with artistic creativity.

I do not know that is the imformation from doctors , proffesioniols which my teachers have degrees in and I have had teaching me and I I read articals it siad asburgers is characterized by lacke of abstract thought . They do not understand concept of lieing and are bluntly honest and it makes them frustrated . I asked the doctor my family went to when one my parents had get a scan I not going into detail why they were thier but I still asked them and I asked them a bunch of other useless questions they were happy to awnser .

          • Taken from thefreedictionary

            abstract thinking
            n.
Thinking characterized by the ability to use concepts and to make and understand generalizations, such as of the properties or pattern shared by a variety of specific items or events.

As you see it has nothing to do with creativity.

Also people with aspergers are just as likely as anyone else to lie. Theyre just not very good at it due to a lack of empathy. This will usually make them lie less often than most people because they usually get caught when they do.

I don't know because I do a lot of the same things you do but I know I'm just really quirky. I don't know you, though, but from just reading it, it sound like you're just really quirky.

It might be asperger's, it certainly sounds like it. The good news is that you seem to be able to deal pretty well (it's definitely very high-functioning), so my advice you just be to live your life.

Thank you for the comments guys, I already thought I had aspergers syndrome but I have also been told I might have autism. Looks like I only have aspergers though so thats good.

It really sounds like aspergers. Most of the autistic individuals I have run into don't seem to possess the linguistic skills that you have used even to type this post! (although I do recognize that autism is a HUGELY varying condition from person to person)

    Sounds like asperger's to me.
It wouldn't hurt to take a real test, but if you can't afford one or just can't be bothered with it then that's no big deal either.

It couldn't be Asperger's Syndrome, actually.
Asperger's is still on the autism spectrum, but without any speech problems.
