Am i abnormal for this?

When I start working next year, I plan on making multiple trips to my hometown in the hopes that I'll get lucky and reconnect to my old friends by coming across them in public somewhere. Most people would've moved on and made new friends but not me. I feel like I'm forever bound to my friends and I feel as if I can't and won't give up on them.

It might be abnormal that you haven't grown any new friends, but wanting to re-kindle friendships is normal.

I kept in touch with a few of my home town friends for years after I moved away. Eventually I moved too far away to maintain those friendships but I still exchanged emails with them occasionally, and Facebook helps too even though I despise it.

Some of your old friends might enjoy bumping into you and might spend a bit of time with you too. But not all of them will be so keen. And this doesn't mean that they dislike you, only that they want to keep to themselves. I hope it all works out for you and you have a good time.

If these people mean so much to you, how did you lose contact with them? In this internet age it takes so little effort to stay in touch.
