Always needing more sleep?

No matter how much sleep I am always tired. I usually get 8 hours but still feel tired and as though I need more.

Is this normal?

Definitely sounds like a sleep disorder. I have been fighting with one for about 3-years. In my case, it's not Sleep Apnea, it's that my body is not producing Melatonin which triggers your body to get DEEP SLEEP. Deep sleep is when your body recouperates and recharges. A doctor can have you go through a 'sleep study' and tell you exactly what is happening or, like me, not happening. Good luck with this!

  • No, I'm not pregnant!

Although I think I might have pinned this down to something called long term sleep defecit which would make sense, just need to sleep more!

drink more water most americans have that problem they dont drink enough water. drink 8 cups of water a day through out the day and you should see some results also eating fruits in the morning should give you more energy so you wont be tired. i do a 6 mile run in the morning but thats just pushing it.

    • Well, that would explain the cramps and the lack of bleeding down below...

You may have a sleep disorder which prevents you from getting sound sleep, such as an apnea. Are you overweight, and do you snore? These are signs of sleep apnea. Doesn't mean you definitely have it, but could be.

Also could be the mattress you're sleeping on. If you're not comfortable and supported, you could be tossing and turning all night without knowing it.

  • I don't want to be a story topper so I will keep this short. Multiple Sclerosis makes a person even more droggy than normal. I know why but I will keep it short.

Sometimes, I sleep up to 18 hours in a day and other days I have severe insomnia (Always had this, even before MS) and I can't sleep at all. I just wish I didn't HAVE to sleep as I would much rather be spending all that time doing other things.

That happens to me too, I think it's normal especially if you have a very stressful life, that can make you feel very tired. Try drinking coffee first thing in the morning, it lasts for 10 hours so if you are drinking coffee all day, it will make it so you can't sleep. Also, try yoga or aromatherapy to de-stress you which will probably in the long run make you feel less worn out.
