Whenever I go to get a massage, I always get an erection. It doesn't matter if I haven't masturbated for a few days or right before, it still happens. I don't have any sexual intentions, but it's still kind of awkward

A good massage leaves you completely relaxed. Erections can occur simply due to deep relaxation. This is why most men in good health have several nocturnal erections.
Combine relaxation with the sensation of hands moving on your body and I think your experience isn't surprising at all.
If you have a good relationship with a particular masseuse, perhaps you could ask the question of him or her?

You are not masturbating enough, you should strive to masturbate at least 10 times per day for a whole week then go for a massage
