All fat people should be sent to boot-camps

When you reach the point of obesity, you should be forced into a boot camp until you've reached normal BMI again.

I'd support that 22
I wouldn't support that 42
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Just because you have thrown them into some boot camp doesn't mean they have learnt to eat healthily. It means they have been forced to lose weight. The chances are as soon as you release them there will be a mass stampede down to the nearest KFC.

If you show people how to cook decent, healthy & tasty dishes at a reasonable cost, relatively quickly they may make that change.

    • Something needs to be done to heavily discourage people from buying processed foods at all. The food industry adds extraneous and very unhealthy amounts of sugar and fat to foods.

Once I cut back on sugar even for just a few days, I didn't miss it.

They need to know that the people don't need the sugar and fat to enjoy their products, and many people don't want those things anymore.

I wish people would say to these food producers, "If you add the crap, we won't buy the wrap."

      • When I quit drinking soda a couple years ago, I noticed a change almost immediately. People who compare sugar to drugs aren't lying, it seems as if I'm even able to think clearer without that crap in my body.

    • And while we're at it, make rules that take KFC out of the situation altogether. The food industry knows very well that they're killing people, but no one does anything about it because money.

I don't know if it should be mandatory, but if institutions for anorexic people exist then they should exist for the morbidly obese too. Extreme obesity is also an eating disorder.

Maybe shutting them out of restaurants wouldn't go amiss.

    • This. Optional boot camps (maybe we should think of a more appealing name for them...) would honestly be a great idea for the obese, but mandatory ones sound like North Korea.

      • Instead of boot camps we can call them Buffets.

Some obese people are obese because they have a physical problem. I think it should be a nicer boot camp but still pushing. I don't support or and no support it. I think it should be a option that is perferd to be recommended.

  • I wouldn't support that, because it just sounds like more tax dollars down the drain. What I think we should have is a fat tax, like Japan.

It's placed on unhealthy foods or overweight persons. It's a great way to discourage obesity. Any country with any form of government funded health care should have this.

We're becoming more aware of how many preventable sicknesses are caused by obesity and unhealthy eating habits, which in turn is fueled by the obese person's stupidity/gluttony.

It's a waste to have to pay for a person who's unhealthy from bad eating and gluttony to get patched up the hospital via tax dollars.

Yes, when they've gotten to a certain point it can't be helped, but we should also focus on preventing and punishing over eating and unhealthy eating habits.

Those things can cause as much harm as some drugs that we know to ban, so why not?

Or we could do away with socialist government funded healthcare altogther. How bout that?

      • I wouldn't want to do away will government funded healthcare altogether. Even though taxes are often misused, there are people who really need that help.

Well there is disability and medicare, for those who have paid into the system. It's been mismanaged, and isn't funded, but for everyone who paid in, that's not their fault, so they should get it.

Everyone else needs to manage their own healthcare.

Who do you think needs it that isn't covered by those programs?

    • So they go to the ER for a cold or a sprained double chin and then don’t pay the $2,500 bill.
      Yeah, that’ll work perfectly.

Well, okay. Charge them with obesity tax on the insurance payment. Or, charge them a sugar tax, or French fry tax so they pay as they are getting fat. Or, fucking let the bastards die from type 2 diabetes. Socialist medicine is all about denying care to end stage patients to save money for use on preventative care.

Reminds me, it's time for my 4 km run.

    Why blame KFC?
I eat there any time I like.
    I prefer popeyes, or bojangles.
I balance intake with calories burned.
    that said, yes.
Fat farm these blights on society.
dont worry about tax dollars paying for it.
we lock them up and make them work.
you dont work, you dont eat.

I’m indifferent to obese people. Some have physical problems, but to the ones that eat too much, that’s their choice.

If they’re going to destroy their bodies with junk food, let them. They’re not hurting anyone except for themselves.
I wouldn’t want my tax money going to people who CHOSE to eat so much and exercise so little.

If there were places for people with BED or some other eating disorder, then that would a different story. Many of those people find it hard to change their eating disorders, and they DESERVE help.

Ummm, I clicked "I'd support that" but in reality, no. That would be expensive! I'm not funding it. I like this idea anyways. I mean look at the positive benefits. Exceptionally obese individuals spend money on food. They're good customers for junk food.

Anyone ever seen that series "My 600 Pound Life" ??? Scary!!!! How are those people even alive?

I do know that for those people that are obese, sadly they experience high insulin levels which keeps their blood sugar unstable, rather than steady, which makes them feel like they're starving, even if they may have eaten within a few hours. They should do intermittent fasting, eat fats, greatly reduce carbs, choose protein first and foremost, and that should do the trick.

I've seen too many normal weight people that are craptacularly out of shape. Gotta throw them into training at a boot camp too.
