Ok. Hmmmm, rather than the cynical pragmatic earthly argument of eco-destructive humans, wellll if i really was from another planet- honestly the contender would be...hands down.. WATER.

yes thats right. water. I think i would be amazed at its very unusual properties that sustain life here, for being such a small molecule. I would take a sample back home with me and experiment with it to see what results i get:)

maybe i'd tie a human on a leash while im at itXD

hm. but it's a very basic elemental connection...unless your planet is using another physical ruleset than ours, you ultimately have the same elements...in different quantitys, probably, but there's only so many things protons, neutrons and electrons get together for.

Chances are, if you travelled through space to visit another planet, your chemists already found out about water in some laboratory back home(there's also only certain rulesets to which elements connect with what else...and seeing how H is pretty much the most basic(1 proton, 1 electron if not an isotope) it's rather likely the amazing "Water" was already developed.

That just from the technical side...but you could easily be still amazed at the VAST amounts of water, if your homeplanet only makes it in laboratory quantity(e.g. from human perspective imagine a planet mainly made up of Platinum/Gold)

yes it is very basic, considered basic to us that is, but just use your imagination, if this other planet did not follow the rules of gravity and other physical laws that we are used to.

And while its true that, lets say, the most basic of all elements, hydrogen, is rather abundant, we do not know for certain what its limitations are. Consider, or imagine, hydrogen surrounded by other extra terrestial laws of physics/kinetics we cannot even imagine- the possibilities are endless! also take into account time, or evolution, of these..."existences" so to say.

If my home planet made water under laboratory conditions, well, it would be just that, lab conditions. Rather dull i would say. Still, i'd be amazed at the forces water is capable of when combined with other elements/conditions here on earth (giant tsunamis/hurricanes..)glaciers, rainbows over lush green forests...etc

a gold/diamond planet? ohh i like:) fancy that:)

hehe, ya, as said, i didn't mean to "belittle" your comment, as i enjoyed it too, sorry for playing teacher here ^_^
I just meant that the scale and abundance(and what is "caused" by that) would probably be the amazing thing, not the mere existance of "water" itself :)

And, just saying if that other planet doesn't follow our normal physical laws, then there'll be PLENTY to be amazed by i'd reckon ;)

That one of the most worthless species is some how at the top of the food chain when they are too 80 percent of them don't have any common sense. A dog sees a man holding a Axe and a crazed look and the dog runs away. A teenage girl sees this and stupidly says "Will you be my boyfriend!"

I really don't think our species deserves to be on top. We really should just sacrifice half of the people. Most of our species wants to kill themselves anyways. If people really want to be this stupid we might as well let them suffer. People with sense try to stop them from destroying themselves but their is just too many patients in this hospital. Some of the patients are just going to have to be let go.

exactly. Thats why i enjoyed chem lab:)

but lab did have its limitations:(

          but still:)

You brought up a really interesting topic here by the way

ya, thats why i'm saying it can still be amazing to see this whole eco-system based on normal water, and the huge amounts of it.

just mentioning that "water" itself, aside from existing with a very high probability in one form or the other at their place(or at least their solar system), will most likely not be new to a spacefarer visiting other planets :)

  • The art that man is able to inspire would be my choice.

To have the ability to convey an idea to those outside your own consciousness and to have it understood is very powerful. I can only wonder what was in the eye of Napoleon's mind when he said, "Imagination rules the world".

Why do people assume an alien species would only want war? I'd like to think a higher form of intelligence capable of traveling such distances would be above the petty act of war and exploitation. As humans, this is what we do. Exploration isn't always about conquering.

I think they would be impressed with art, expression, and the variety of ways in which life communicates.

Hopefully they would choose to be impressed with our art/music, and not enslave us as a lower life form. If they have made it all the way here, they are obviously technologically superior, and lets face it, the only thing that humans are unconditionally good at is war.

ah, i think they'd make a entertainment reality soap out of us, laughing their alien butt-equivalents off as we idioticly "drive" our planet against the metaphoric wall ^_^

Interstellar war is ONE thing i am not worried about. Technological superiority also means superior mobility, so it's the superiors choice when and where to fight...meaning we could likely never force them to stand and fight while getting utterly annihilated if we so much as tried.
Space warfare only ever would get "interesting" between humans, having the same "technological" level.

Lolz that is such a good point, with the mobility they would tear us apart, "the patriot" style!

Thanks to your title, I've now got the Terrorvision song, "Didn't Bleed Red" in my head. :P

Anyway, my prosaic answer is that they'd be most impressed by what was most different to their own planet. I'd choose to believe art and music (humans are wonderfully "human" at those things), but the answer is probably Bieber, isn't it?

    Yay. A Space_ghost? visit!

Either way, most likely the platypus, to me. Thats the impression part.

What would most AMAZE me is the sheer collective stupidity of the race called "humans".
Everybody knows things are going the wrong way, but nobody changes course or slows down because no one else is, and it's more profitable that way. It's like, as a collective, we are unwilling to take individual responsibility, and as a result do not exactly act as an intelligent species should(/would).

  • Nothing. I'd annihilate the whole damn planet before the human disease spreads into other solar systems. Or "clean" it with a biological weapon and turn into a wildlife reservation.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Well...Since most of these things are man-made, I would assume humans...Specificly male humans...(I hear the cannons of the emotional getting ready already, I wonder what their ammuniation will be, thumbs down or comment)...

The aliens would agree with you, actually. A male is far more likely to report that he has been abducted and subjected to anal probing than a female.

Personally, I know some guys that'd love a good anal probe ass pounding.

Me too. A colleague of my father had to go to hospital to get a large section of broom handle removed from his rectum. He said he'd been in the bathroom (and so had been naked, natch) and had decided to open the bathroom window (which was too high to reach) by standing on the toilet and using the broom as a prop to steady himself (which slipped and then naturally became a rectum-seeking missile. You know what brooms are like! Tsk!)

If he'd have gone the alien abduction route, he might actually have been more believable. Like, yeah, aliens abducted me and did weird experiments. Like, they had this one where they put a stick in my ass. Then they put some mittens on my head. I got the mittens off myself, but about this stick...

My friends and I were high 2 weeks ago and had a revelation. We decided that aliens are actually robots that come from a planet so far advanced in technology that they aren't even organic beings and they will come to Earth and kill us all and then when we're all dead they'll start building more of themselves to raise their population and create an immortal race of cyborgs that will conquer Earth and live forever.

You don't know what land is? An area of ground with reference to its nature or composition.

I imagine they'd be intrigued by our extensive list of wild life and marine creatures, as we humans still are today.
