Age of consent and the internet
On the internet, sites that deal with sexual situations require the user to be 18 years old in order to access it. As such, 18 is considered the 'Internet Age of Consent'. Of course, those under 18 can and do access them anyway, but this in itself brings up an interesting debate.
Throughout the world, the age of consent varies. In the United States alone, it varies from 16-18 by state.
This leads to the strange situation where somebody can be technically breaking the law for looking at something, say, a picture, that would be legal for them to actually do.
This is a conundrom. Where I live, the legal age of consent is 17. A 17-year-old, as such, can have consensual sex with somebody who is at least 17 years old, yet it would be illegal for them to look at a picture of the exact same thing occurring.
