Afraid to take a shower

I am so afraid to take a shower (and I know it's because I've watched too many horror movies) because I'm afraid a huge CG shark or squid will crash through the wall and eat me. I never take showers longer than 4 minutes and haven't taken a bath in years. I have been this way ever since I was much younger, but it's gotten worse over the years. And I know it's impossible and not real and all that stuff, but I tell myself that when I'm taking a shower and it doesn't work!

Congratulations on realizing that this is an irrational fear. You have reached step one. It's normal for people to have a phobia, but if it's making it difficult to live your life you will need to over-come your fear. You might try books, but I don't know which ones are good, or try talking to a doctor or councellor. In some cases having to explain your fear in depth can help you realize the actual cause, in other cases it might be a manifestation of a real and reasonable anxiety. A trained professional can help you figure this out.

I used to be the same!
    I still am actually, I haven`t had a bath since I was 8 or 9, I just have showers.

What I did was, don`t let the bath fill up when you shower, just let everything drain out. An aquatic creature cannot get you if it cannot breath!

When I was little I was afraid that while I was taking a bath, a shark would come out of the drain and eat me. Your imagination is a bit too active, that's all. Not really too worrying, unless it gets really bad. Then you should see someone.

What you need to do is train your brain.
Brain training is a pretty long process.
In this case keep telling yourself that none of this will happen.
pLUS IT DEPEND ON HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN TELLING YOURSELF.
Don't keep telling yourself when in the shower.
If you are sitting down or soemthing, think about it and tell yourself in a consecutive string that it won't happen.
If you do this for long enough, the im sure you will make a recovery. IF NOT, Dr Phils a good alternative.

Lmfao a giant squid? There's only 3 things that can kill you in a shower.. A homicidal maniac, slipping and hitting your head, or a nuke landing in your city. Lock the door, and get over it. Jeez...
