A world i invented in my head. obsessive! is this normal?

Ok so I always have fantasies about this "2nd world" I invented about 10 years ago. The world involves character whom I created personalities and individual backrounds for. My story developed more and more everyday. I thought I was a freak for this and I never told anyone. I think of the fantasy ALL the time! Especially in bed when I close my eyes. Every since about 3 years ago, I've been thinking that it's getting out of hand. It distracts me from school and other tasks. I've never told anyone but I want to. Oh and I have several sketches about the characters and lists of their statistics and traits. I have conversations with them and they respond according to their personality. I'm writing books and comics about it. Ugh! I think I really need a theropist.

You remind me a bit of myself. I use to have intense and drawn out sagas, multiple ones at the same time that I kept alive late into the night, or when I had something to do, school work or whatever. I don't know what to suggest to you, I guess you have two options, use it, or lose it. I stopped pretty much, and my life kind of took over. I do think it could be a gift though. Think to yourself if this is what you want to do with your life, to write these stories for everyone to see or if you want something else. And hey I'm always open to read some of your stuff whenever, I do it all the time for friends.

That's perfectly okay I think a lot of people do that they maybe just don't dream in the fantasy genre as you. Especially before going to bed or daydreaming in school. I have it too so don't worry about it most people probably just wouldn't admit what they're imagining

It sounds like you have the makings of a pretty neat book, or series of books going. Check out things like The Games of Thrones and The Hobbit trilogy, etc. to see where you could be heading. These authors have built entire worlds in their minds and lots of people really enjoy reading that sort of thing.

Hello! I often have these sort of worlds mapped out in my head- I write sort-of 'Mini-profiles' with their traits and everything, like you.

I simultaniously run several world simulations in my mind, all with slight variations from the last, the newest of these being radically different from earth. The first of these was a world where the sun was type G3 instead of G2, making the earth slightly cooler.

I too have another world. It's Extremely complicated, because there are different scenarios/settings. If I wanted to, I could write a book based on them and this book would be extremely long, strange and again, complicated.

I don't think you have to worry about your dreams. You are maybe different, but hey, you could in fact, like others have said, be on the start of a career writer. Try to develop it with maybe a teacher or writer that can help you develop into a good writer.

I also like to daydream about made-up worlds and characters. I agree with Short4Words that if you don't use it, you'll lose it. I almost lost my ability to get highly involved in my imagination when I became lazy about it and let the Internet entertain me instead.
