A weird food craving when i was younger...

When I was a lot younger, I took a slice of bacon and ate it raw. I quite liked the taste and texture and found myself taking a couple of slices when I had the chance (and when I thought I could get away with it). I carried on doing it for a few years. Although it didn't make me feel sick and I had no symptoms of food poisoning or stomach problems. But I've always wondered whether it was really that harmful or whether I was the only person who'd tried it and enjoyed it. Can anyone relate to this in some way or am I the only person on the whole planet who's eaten and enjoyed raw bacon? I'm just curious.

Look people bacon is CURED and SMOKED.It's not simply RAW PORK like a pork chop.So you will not get tape worms.Me and my family eat it all the time like that.Like right before we make breakfast we will just a sneak a little bit out of the package etc.Everyone one here is acting like they don't know what cured and smoked bacon is.If it's not smoked, then you might have a problem but it's fine.

Oh, boy. It may have been ages since I had it, but I'm totally craving it again. It's the only meat I know that's really chewy, moist and unseasoned. Mmmm ... my stomach is gurgling just thinking about it...

A tapeworm isn't going to ruin your life but apparently trichinosis is a bigger risk and apparently it is only found in raw pork. I suspect bacon would be less risky because of all the processing it goes through.

You're probably suffering from a mineral deficiency, make sure you're getting a sufficient diet with a lot of whole grains, vegetables, and nuts. These awkward cravings will soon go away.

Yeah, no, this is not normal and okay and anyone who says it is is an idiot. There are TONS of parasites that can infect pork and the only way to make it safe to eat is to cook it. End of story.

You should NOT be doing that. You probably have tapeworms. Seriously, go get yourself checked.

You know that if you cook ham, it will taste like bacon?

They both come from a pig, so it's not dangerous to eat uncooked.
    Yes it is normal. :)

Are you sure they are the same thing?

I googled it and apparently, there are many other people who have eaten uncooked bacon. Some people haven't complained of any ill effects and others have. There's been the mention of trichinosis.

Personally, I would never eat uncooked bacon.
