Depends on the type of touching. I wouldn't smack someone for tapping me on the shoulder.

    First, weirded out.
    Next, angry.
    Then, I'll "touch" them back.
But, By "touch", I mean KICK THEM IN THE NUTS AND WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE!

Well actually, I'm extremely shy in the real world, so... Meh. Let's see when it gets there.

I am very sensitive when being touched by people, especially unexpectedly. And definitely no touchy when it comes to strangers. I hold my breathe when people walk past, not going to let them touch me.

Upon feeling the touch of his finger on my shoulder and hearing the shallow words "Excuse me, might you have the time?" I would swiftly turn around, scream "There's No Place Like Home!!!!!!", kick him in the fiddlestick, and run away laughing like schoolgirl. So, pleased. I would feel pleased.

Now, before I do this for you, I'm gonna need 50% of the cash up front and the other 50 when the job is complete.
This is a job interview, right?

Since 'touching' sounds like something prolonged, I think how I would react would depend on where I was being touched.

A stranger intentionally 'touching' my breasts (or around them), my bum, or between my legs, would get a hostile reaction from me that involves yelling and probably some minor violence. A stranger touching a less intimate part of my body, like my arm or foot, would receive a calm, "Can I help you?"

I suppose that's why "keep your hands to yourself" is one of the first social rules we learn as children.

  • In before people need it spelled out to them what is mea...Oh, I'm too late.

    Anyway.

I've had it happen too many times, from smacks on my rear, touching my "areas".

The first time a complete stranger randomly came up to me in this manner was when I was in Wales in high school. I was walking in town with my friend and this girl next to her friend looks at us, looks at eachother, talk for a second, then walks up to me, presses herself against me trying to be seductive (whole lip movement thing), then finished with that whole female sexual stance thing, you know with the hip out to one side and the arm from that side on that hip, looks at me, and walks back to her friend.

I just stood there like ":|" Eh, yeah...Well...That just happened. Was it complimenting? Sure, was I uncomfortable with it? Very.

So quite a few from your list.

If it was a friendly gesture (eg: tapping on my shoulder or arm) I'd be relatively cool with it. If said stranger started caressing my face, s/he's going to get slapped.

This is an extremely stupid question. You did not define what type of touching so how are we suppose to tell you if we are ok with it or not? OP you should think before you write this rubbish. We can not read your mind like you seem to believe.

Some people do not like being touched at all such as a hug, tap on shoulder, handshake would bother them. At the same time some people love hugs and physical contact.

If its a sexual touch some people might not mind, might not interpret it as sexual(depending on culture), or might mind very much.

You need to specify. This is incredibly vague and unless you name a specific type of touching, or specific type of behavior we cant possibly answer this. You should try not being so narrow-minded.

If they touch me intentionally in a sexual way, or if they grab me/push me even in a non-sexual way, I'm likely to instinctually punch them. But if they just brush against me or tap my shoulder I'll ignore them because it either wasn't intentional or was just done to annoy me.

Violated /: I haven't had that happen yet but I have had creepy stares from both genders and it made me pretty uncomfortable. Especially when they look at their friends, whisper something and continue to stare.

  • It really depends on the kind of touch and who is doing the touching.

1 in what way? is the person touching my shoulder whilst talking to me or maybe we're on a packed train? or is it more deliberate than that?

secondly is the person of the opposite sex, are they attractive? are they intimidating?

There's too many variables for me to answer
