A reverse of lactose intolerance?

I have always loved milk (perhaps more so than the average person). I drank it all the time as a kid. I still drink milk every day and go through nearly two gallons in a single week.
Anyway one time I ran out of milk but didn't really need anything else, so rather than go all the way to the store just to get milk I thought I would just do without until I needed to go shopping again. The first day or so everything was normal, but about the third day I began to feel ill. Mainly it was my digestive system. My stomach was cramping, I was gassy I basically had the symptoms of someone who was lactose intolerant that just ate a bunch of ice cream. After I finally went shopping and had a glass or two of milk it went away. I wrote it of as some bug that I picked up, and didn't connect it to the milk.
A few months later, some friends and I went on vacation for a week. The milk was gone two days before coming home. Rather than get more, I drank some of the juice and things we bought. On the car ride home, I had those symptoms again. Once we were home and I had some milk I was fine again. It was about this time I put two and two together. Wondering if it was just a coincidence, I deliberately stayed away from milk. Sure enough, I felt ill.
Now I ask has anyone heard of a milk dependency? I looked online to see if I could find anything about someone being physically ill from a lack of milk, but found nothing, so I thought I would ask here.

Just thought I'd pop in here to share some information. Most likely, your symptoms seem to be those of acid reflux (Gastroesophageal reflux) disease, where your stomach produces excess acid.

Milk has fairly low pH, that is, it's a base. The low pH of the milk works to balance the excess acid in your stomach and esophagus, exactly like an antacid would.

I suggest seeing a doctor to get a proper antacid prescription, as milk is not the proper treatment for this. ***Regularly consuming a lot of milk can even lead to acid reflux disease it's self.***

    Thanks and good luck

Recently my husband has been going lactose and gluten free. I had no problem with changing to almond or soy milk. But after about a week I had bad cramping and intestinal pain. I thought I had a severe case of the stomach flu. My husband suggested that I drink a milk shake when I got to work. I had about 2oz of milk I felt a little better. Later I had 1 small scoop of ice cream. I felt better. I have found out that I'm lactose dependent.

Uh... low PH is acidic. Milk itself is very slightly acidic. (6.7 pH) I, and some others, seem to have some similar symptoms when deprived of milk. Its quite odd, and makes absolutely no sense to me.

I've been doing some digging on lactase, the enzyme used to split lactose. There have been people that take ridiculous amounts of lactase supplements with no side effects, and indeed there are no listed side effects of a lactase supplement. I can only guess some people have an overabundance of this particular enzyme, and that it has caused some digestive issues when not used.

If you're looking for hard answers, I wish you luck. If you've found some answers since you posted this, I'd be interested to hear them.

I am so used to milk everyday that i too dont feel the lack of lactose(!) until a couple of days later.
I feel lousy, weak, and funny. I dont get cramps, tho.
Part of it must be in my psyche, because of the American notion that milk is the perfect food, and the "got milk" ads. these can invade your unconscious.
I have to confess I drink even more than you do , about a gallon every 24 hours, -- without even noticing it-- so I wondered if I were a milkaholic!. it's so cold and tastes so aggreeable, and I dont like soda or juice as much.
It does however maintain a health intestinal flora, so maybe the cramps came from the lessening of the healthy flora in your intestines. There are two kinds down there-- the poison forming and the non-poison forming (toxic and non toxic) The good news is that when one predominates the other succumbs , and milk, starches, and fruits create the non toxic ones. Meat, fish and eggs create the toxic ones-- so that is why a balanced diet is imp't. It's because the human small intestine is so long,
whereas a dogs is only 2 feet long.
I guess: if you had ANYTHING everyday and then stopped your body would miss it soon enough.
But I remember talking myself into getting headaches, perhaps when I was sleeping, because I forgot my evening coffee. So I often woke up with a headache, but later I saw it was just a coincidence. It was not necessarily related to the caffeine. Caffeine helps migraine sufferers.
Most imp't thing to me is to not eat alot of food, soon before bedtime.
An awful lot of people must drink milk though-- not just kids. It is an immense industry, altho I know many adults who wont go near it. My father once mentioned it made him pee like crazy.
    TOM

I have recently found that I'm milk or lactose dependent. My husband went on a lactose and gluten free diet. I joined him at least on the lactose part. I did good for the first week or two. I started getting severe pain and cramping with intestinal pain. I thought I had a severe cause of the stomach flu. He suggested that I drink milk products. I tried a little milk about 2oz. I felt better but still not great. Later I had a scoop of ice cream. I felt good. I then could actually eat a really meal. So milk is now allowed in our house to keep me health.

I found your post while googling "milk dependency" and am now certain that my body is suffering from milk withdrawal.

While my symptoms vary somewhat from yours (I get a burning sensation along the esophagus), they regularly surface 2 days after cutting milk out from my diet; once during a vacation abroad, in which I had toast and OJ for breakfast instead of cereals the entire time, and twice after conciously cutting dairy products out for dieting reasons (merry xmas! Om nom nom).

I originally figured that high acid levels from juices or sodas were upsetting my body so I started drinking more water in an attempt to compensate, but if any relief at all that's a temporary one at best.

So I guess we're milkaholics :) not a baf addiction all in all, if that truly is the case. I'd still be interested in hearing a doctor's opinion to finally set my mind (and flesh) to rest.

You know, I was going to make a post about this as well. My brother is lactose intolerant, whereas I can't get enough and go through the same symptoms you described when i go without milk. I'll be watching this to see what people think about this.
in my eyes it's normal. but I've been like that my entire life. So we'll see.
At least now you know you're not the only one.

Normal as in it happens? Sure it happens often. Is it a good thing? Depends the way you look at it. Religion points at no divorce and no cheating...but since you're past that....its either going to be work at a relationship..and continue cheating..because lets face it....you're not going to change. No counseling will change that. You've already made up your mind. Divorce ....better than taking the kids and wife for a ride. And you have the liberty of doing whatever you please.....not that religion agrees with that either.....what a clusterfk.

    lol, i think i like milk as much as you, and where you're lucky and somehow got a milk dependency, my parents are tellin me if i drink too much milk you CAN become lactose intolerant, apparently, so i'm not allowed to drink as much anymore... you're lucky... ;-;
