A question about your feet

When you walk, are your feet both pointing straight forward, both at an outward or inward angle or is one pointing straight ahead and the other at an angle?

The reason why I ask is because I walk a lot and, on my way to work this morning, I was looking down at my feet (to avoid having to greet people, etc.) and I noticed that my left foot points straight forward but my right foot points outward at a 10 to 15 degree angle. This is also the case when I stand still and when I make my right foot point straight ahead, my right knee then points inward.

This got me thinking...

WHY is this? I noticed that other people have differences in this too (thus my initial question).

I suspect it might have something to do with muscles either located in the butt or hip or maybe even the ankles.

My dirty little birdy feet point straight when I walk, but they're slightly pigeon toed when I stand or sit. I am a bird after all. Sheesh. Honestly, the slew foot look is so unappealing to me and it annoys me. Silly I know, but whatever.

    • What is slew foot? Tell me more about this because I'm afraid that the bird has opened a whole new can of worms here.
What makes it unappealing to you?

It's when the feet point out. It's very pronounced on some people and it just looks sloppy and lazy to me, even though there's probably a reason for it.

Sooo....a can of worms has been opened, eh? I feel like you just invited me to dinner. Peck peck.

I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, Sir, because I'm not myself you see.

You don't want to duck waddle. It's difficult at first, but try being more conscious of your feet to keep them straight.

The problem is in your hips, and often one side is tighter than the other. Most important time to keep the feet straight is when you're taking a dump.

    • I don't know about your last sentence though. It's natural foot positioning to be at 45 degrees when pooping.

How does one untighten one's hips?

The two best stretches I've found are the "kneeling hip flexor stretch" and the "lying glute stretch". If you spend most of your day sitting behind a computer, you should definitely do these.

As for the toilet, try for yourself.
