A car killed my puppy. is it normal to hate the new puppy my parents got?

She got out when I called to her she ran to me from across the street just as a car came. I was crying for a week and had nightmares I had to sleep in my parents room. They got me a new one like two weeks later but I don't like it and I want them to return it.

They should have waited until you were ready for a new smoochie. A pet can't just be replaced like that.

Replacement pets generally aren't a good idea, IMHO. My sister lost a beloved dog (we think it was stolen), and got a new one, but never formed the same bond with the new pet. I think you are right that it would be best to return the puppy. Consider getting another dog or other pet at a later date, but don't think of it as a replacement for puppy you lost, because it won't be.

Your sadness will take a few months to go away. When you feel better, then you will be ready for a new pet.

Not everyone gets over loss of a pet in a few months, for some it takes years. I lost my (first) dog of 12 years last summer and I still can't really even deal with looking at dogs of her same breed without feeling sad.

You need to finish the grieving process before getting a new pet. Don't take out your frustrations on the new puppy, because he or she is completely innocent, helpless and blameless. Don't be a shitty person, OP. Seriously, how can you hate a puppy? Next time try to follow the leash laws more carefully and supervise your puppy more closely.

I dunno how old you are, but this is a site for people who are 18 and over.
