zpoc base part - two
You are automatically given, for hypothetical purposes, the choice of ANY base on or around planet Earth that you prefer without worrying about the "how" of access or acquisition of said base.
You have exactly $2 million U.S. dollars (1,401,440 euros, 1,228,330 pounds, 23,435,600 pesos, 1,922,640 Canadian dollars, 746,600,000 Zimbabwe Dollar) to spend as you like and 5 years to prepare yourself and to acquire, to build, to fortify, to booby trap, and/or to stock your structure.
It will be understood,however,that government, commercial, and otherwise pre-dedicated bases can only be fortified and altered "post" ZPOC. This would include the welding of entrances and access points shut. You will be given the keys to the kingdom at the time of ZPOC; folks will be magically removed from the premises, and you will be given one week to secure your base. You could use the money and the 5 year head start to learn some useful survival skills (like take an abbreviated bivouac medical course to learn surgery, emergency medical care, midwifery, dentistry, pharmacology, botany, and field triage, getting a degree in electronics;how to weld, how to make explosive devices, learn martial arts,how to shoot various weapons, how to fly various crafts, how to make freshwater from sea water, how to grow vegetables, how to jump buildings with a dirt bike, how make diesel fuel from moonshine, how to sail a boat, how to survive in the wild, how to hot wire a car, how to navigate an aircraft carrier, how to weave fabric and make clothes and other garments, etcetera, etcetera---what you choose to learn during your 5 year head start is up to your cleverness and ingenuity) and to stock up on needed resources in skilled people (no more than 5---Who? Specializing in what? And, where from?) and/or weapons and/or gadgetry and/or food and supplies. The people and/or things that you will need, too, will be magically transported to the base of your choosing for hypothetical purposes.
If, however, you choose to create a base from scratch or to buy a pre-existing base with the $2 million dollars, you will have the entire 5 years to build, to fortify, to booby trap; to secure, to stock, to contract for the needed helpers, and to otherwise prepare your yourself and your base for ZPOC.
The point of this exchange is to see how you think and strategize given your initial possibilities and resources.
Additionally, a "Death Star" is not within the $2 million dollar budget so, hypothetically speaking, you cannot use or maintain crazy, costly, Sci-Fi weaponry on your base unless it "comes with" your pre-existing base. Finally, some will be tempted to use a "space ship" with comic book powers but, this poll is dealing strictly with "known" tangibles on and around the planet Earth.
