"you look like a doll/cartoon character", iin?

I'm not entirely sure if I should be taking it as a compliment or not, but from a variety of people I get the comment "You look like an anime character" or I resemble "One of those girls in those Asian cartoons". All my life I've heard that I look like a doll, but I take these newer comments along with this as I don't look normal or look non-human. Granted I'm half white, half Asian, but I don't see this as a reason to compare me to cartoon characters, especially when I don't dress differently or act differently from others.
Is it normal that I take these comments as insults rather than compliments?

    Personally I would take it as a compliment. Sorry to ask this but I'm obsessed with anime so... pics or it didn't happen.

    My girlfriend reminds me of the invisible girl from the 'Incredibles'
    I tell her, and i mean it as a compliment. So im sure you're fine.

    If you've been getting these comments all your life, have you never bothered to ask someone for some additional information, like "What do you mean?"

    Yeah, i am 100% asian but have bigger eyes than casual asian girls. When i do smoky eyemakeup sometime. My bf tells me that you look like an amine character or looks so curious all the time(all widened eyes)
