3 year old grandson goes nuts when his mom picks him up!

I spend lots of time with my 3 year old grandson. When we're alone, he's the sweetest boy, calm and listens. HOWEVER, when his mother or father come to pick him up, he goes absolutely nuts! Jumps around, does karate on his mother, starts throwing things, won't listen AT ALL!!

Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

It's way simpler than that.He doesn't wanna get back home because he has more fun with you.
    He doesn't go "nuts"
He just uses the behavior he can use to try discourage people around him from doing their thing.Which he doesn't like.Kids get like that when they have a good time then they are forced, cannot avoid,to go where they know, they will have a worse time.I used to do that every time my mom came to pick me up from the playground. It was like:I don't wanna get back home!Leave me here!Obviously she couldn't do that but I didn't understand why,so I kicked and screamed a lot.But she took me back home every time and it sucked.Kids tend to prefer places where they aren't restrained so much.
    It's normal.

Is the boy's mother misusing rectal thermometers perhaps? Maybe for recreational purposes?

the key is making sure his environment at home brings him the same kind of enjoyment your company does. he dreads going home because he knows he wont have as much fun....just find out why

I'm no child expert or anything, but it sounds like maybe he starts throwing a fit because he doesn't want to leave you. Or maybe it's because he thinks he'll have to take a nap soon or something.

It could just be the troublesome 3s too. In any case, you should ask him about it. Talk to him. It could be almost anything with a 3 year old. Just make sure his parents aren't hurting him in any way.

Just to clarify - He's not going "nuts" in a bad way - It seems as if he is so glad to see his mother and father that he gets super, super excited. He's not acting out or crying or trying to hurt anyone because he doesn't want to leave me -
