why do people think that muslims are terrorists

Is it fair to judge on billion people that they are terrorists because of a small group pretending that they are from them?
Actually I cant find answer for that

Agreed on the religion part it was created to control the weak minded masses . Muslims in large part are not bad people at all I interact with many from somalia Ethiopia Malaysia and Burma on a daily basis and they couldn't be nicer the extremists are the ones we hear about in the news so that is all many people have to form their opinions so without any other information to draw from it's not unusual for them to form such an opinion.

Almost every Arab I have ever met has treated me with courtesy and dignity, welcoming us into their lives and homes with open arms.
Once again it is RELIGION, that turns people into such monsters, for such insignificant reasons.

Because only terrorist Muslims make the news. It's like how only homophobic wack-job Christians make the news.
The news media finds the worst people and makes them famous causing hateful stereotypes to grow.

No sane person really thinks that every Muslim is a terrorist. Most people have probably met, worked with, gone to school with Muslims and know that the vast majority are decent people.
Doesn't change the fact that that religion has some serious fucking issues. Say there's a terrorist attack; is it by an extremist Buddhist group? No, because fundamentalist Buddhism doesn't result in people getting killed. Of course it's a Muslim terrorist group.
Most people practice the religion moderately, and it's not a problem. But their brothers who choose to take things a bit too seriously, are out there bombing the shit out of people. So what? They don't count? They're not "proper muslims", they're just crazies? What?

No, I'm not going to take that out on the average Muslim guy down the street. But what about the radical Imam who's preaching hate for the west and grooming young boys to go fight for Isis?

So no, not all Muslims are terrorists. Not even close. But pretty much all terrorists are muslim. And either the religion itself, the culture of the people, whatever it is, is seriously flawed.
So I'm not going to pretend that "Islam is a religion of peace" because I want to sound tolerant and liberal. It's not.

People are suspicious of unfamiliar people. And when governments and news media provide people with sensational titbits of information about the negative acts of a few, people are going to generalize that information to everyone from that culture. Unless people are exposed to positive interactions with other cultures to counterbalance those negative images they receive in media, they will always have a skewed perception of them.

Not the OP but I agree completely with what you just said. I just wouldn't have said "sensationalized titbits", I would have used the correct term which is propaganda. The use of propaganda to villainize a specific group of people before the masses is not a new concept, and one that has resulted in some of the worst atrocities in human history. Political propaganda disguised as news is becoming increasingly more acceptable and I find that rather troubling.

It is fair... you have the freedom to denounce your religion.

So if Christians don't denounce their faith after terrorist acts are executed in the name of Christianity such as abortion clinic bombings, and the 1996 Olympics bombing in Atlanta, does that make them terrorists too?

Just because some use a religion to justify their actions, you don't condemn all of its members.

  • Religion in general causes more problems than it attempts to solve. I do not understand how so many people take part in something created to control the masses.

I think it is normal for people to judge muslims that way because of the media, not because it is true.
Anyway don't believe it when people from islam say it is a perfect religion with imperfect people. I would say its an imperfect religion with nice and geniune people who are corrupted because of the religion.

Because the vast majority of terrorists are of the muslim faith, duh.

The only ones that aren't are "domestic terrorists" someone like "The Zodiac" for instance.

The muslim issue comes from the fact that domestic terrorists are few and far between, they also tend to have much lower body counts and are hence less covered by the media in this day and age.
