that we still have to check the ‘race box’?

That in this day and age we still need to check the race box. Do you believe that disclosing your race give you leg up? Or do you leave the box unchecked? Because you believe that race shouldn’t matter if institutions are genuinely committed to inclusion.

This is an open debate. Lets agree to disagree, and respect the other's opinion even if we don't share it. "RESPECT"

I only recently learnt that America still has this. Horrific really, as most people are such a mixture of genetic origin. Race is a man-made concept that has caused nothing but problems.

When I clicked on this I was hoping it had something to do with race cars.
    :-(

I honestly don't care too much about race issues. Affirmative action has outlived it's usefulness. I'd be curious to see what would happen if they race question were done away with and applicants were chosen entirely on merit and qualifications.

We should stop this practice. And they also ask if you're white - white is not a race.

It's not there to give an advantage to a specific race. It's there for statistical reasons. To see how much the portion of a certain race is in various jobs. If done correctly, they then use this data to help train the race lacking in numbers to also have a chance to obtain a job like that. They are supposed to start correcting the problem on ground level (the schools) but instead they buy tanks and guns.

In theory, that's the reason for the ticking of the race.

In reality, it gets abused and misused and then you end up getting a bunch of angry people discussing it on a forum.

It is a sin to discriminate against other races. Also most people who do this are idiots in addition to being sinful.

You don't HAVE to, jeez. Most of the time it's just for statistical data only anyway. If you don't want to answer then simply don't answer...but if you like to throw around statistics then it kinda makes you an ass.
