Is it normal that I absolutely can't stand when people complain about other people who say that inanimate objects are gay. I think they're being butthurt for no reason about words that people don't even literally mean.
When you say something is cool, that doesn't actually mean it's cold and it doesn't mean that cold things automatically are cool.
"dont be a girl" has a stigma too, so which is worse being called a "girl" or "gay"?

It's weird how I'd be more offended by someone saying "shut up, you girl" to an actual girl than I would be if they said it to me.
They're both sort of the same thing, if you call a man either, you're trying to insult their masculinity by associated them with a group deemed less "manly.
but, the phrase "that's so gay" meaning "dumb" is offensive to gay people. and the word "cool" has 2 different meanings. it means slightly cold, but also means great/awesome.
Devilla...since the gay phrase doesn't bother me I doubt the girl issue is a problem. Words are words. The only way they have power is if someone is offended and gives it power.
^ my pet penguin is very offended when he hears people calling stuff "cool" because cool doesn't mean stylish or appealing, it means cold.

It's because "gay" being used negatively Gives the impression that homosexuality is bad, thus offending people.
If you go to a "slow learner" classroom and call something "retarded", you will be thrown out in a heartbeat.
Following that logic, if snowmen were sentient, I'm sure they would find that use if the word "cool" rather offensive as well.
Thing is, gays have better media coverage than snowmen.
That's a pretty stupid comparison, it's not like there's people going around saying God hates cold people or anything.
Things that are cold don't really have the same negative stigma attached to it that being gay does. It doesn't help the "progressive" movement but it really doesn't bother me as a gay person.
