"strong independent" women make me laugh

I find these chicks ridiculous. They're bragging about being so strong and dominant, but then in their free time they read 50 shades of grey...

Gimme a break!

Never really understood why women felt the need to brag about that shit. It is like being pretty, if you are really that way then you don't need to tell people, they'd just know.

      Nailed it.
"Ooh I can pay rent, I have a job and I'm so free and independent"
Big deal, lots of people do that.
Bragging is lame, unless someone is doing it for you.

i'm fine with all that, forget the book, and the gender. what bothers me is when a person declares themselves as such the independent, doesn't need a man, or woman. suddenly it happens, and instead of staying true to themselves, they make excuses because reality is, the person is just broken and isn't this strong person they declare themselves as. this is what has happened to my best lady friend.

shes lonely, and instead of fighting, she decided to give up and cling to the next guy interested in her. now i must move on. she chose this, i hold her accountable for it. i can't do shite about it. so i'll just move on.

The book sounded boring. Real life is way more fun.

Never read the book and have no desire to, but you clearly need to brush up on you understanding of terminology if you don't actually understand why some women use that phrase to describe themselves.

The image of a strong, independent woman can be found in Kill Bill. Yes, Tarantino can pick them out of the herd. I think he nailed it.

Me? I don't give a fig about feminism, empowerment, and all that fritter. Men, if you wish to display your handsome classic gentlemanly ways, I shall be delighted beyond belief. That is hot!

The book doesn't even accurately Represent a true BDSM lifestyle. There are plenty of other S&M erotica that does.

I think if you're an adult you should be independent.. It shouldn't matter what gender you are.
And what's wrong with reading that book, I haven't read it but whats independence have to do with sexual fantasies and entertainment lol Half of you guys watch porn on a daily basis.. They're just being more "classy" about it haha

Yeah they are funny... 'Big Girls' we should call them.
What do they want, a medal? Or a 'Strong and Independent' sticker?

    What do you read?

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Ironically, the ones that typically say it are anything but "strong independents".

I'm not fond of that statement either. It sounds too much like feminist empowerment/propaganda.
