80s "fashion" makes my eyes bleed.

The stupid mullets, the stupid big frizzy curls, the bright neon colours, the glitter everywhere, the taste-the-rainbow makeup, the shoulder pads, the frills. Just. Too. Damn. Much.

I don't understand people who look back on this dark age of "fashion" like it was this period of pure high-glamour. No, you look like you woke up drunk, threw on 4 horribly mismatching outfits, plastered your makeup on with a trowel and walked out the door as you were.

The response I hear sometimes as well is that The 70s and/or the 90s were so much worse, apparently. I ain't gonna make an excuse for peoples' fuckery in the 70s, because that was basically the 80s without so much glitter and hairspray when you look at it. The 90s was just minimal, some ugly stuff came out of it but I'm a "less is more" kind of person so I can appreciate a lot of 90s stuff.

But that dark decade, the 80s.... absolutely never needs to be revived under any circumstances. I am so zealous about this lmao.

I <3 the 80s!!! 10
It's a guilty pleasure 3

30's years from now youngsters will be laughing at what you're wearing now.

    • Time will tell I guess, but maybe from a biased point of view being a millennial, I can't see that happening.

Everything is so neutral and I guess "safe" with fashion these days. Even when it's not fashionable anymore, I just can't see people looking back and thinking we looked ridiculous.

Trust me they will. Happens to every generation. Everyone thinks they're the shit.

I think we are making ridiculous fashion choices. Mainly Instagram style eyebrows amd contouring. And the way we combine colors in general. I kind of hate this decade.

I can't believe everyone looked like that back then. Ridiculous.

I personally adore girls with gigantic hair and/or giant mall bangs. I miss them actually :(

I think some people can really pull off the 80s look. I personally can't. I'm short, but I have broad shoulders. That makes 80s clothes look funny on me.

Well give me plaid bell bottoms with platform shoes over man buns, three day whisker growth (on people who don't have much facial hair to begin with), saggy pants down below their ass, baggy T shirts that could pass for a dress, and tattooed everything.

I can always change those bell bottoms and platform shoes for Levi's and Converse but you are stuck with those stupid tattoos forever.

By the way, if you can't grow a full beard by the time you are 20, don't try. Just shave your peach fuzz every day and accept the fact that you are Justin Bieber.

    • Is sagging pants still a thing? Honestly I don't see guys doing that much anymore

Agreed on the long t-shirts though, now those really are awful. I do love manbuns and tastefully done tattoos though, ngl

I don't think so. I only had a few 1-2 inch hairs then and now I have a thin but full length goatee. I have to look up when zipping my coat or it'll yank my beard.

A goatee isn't necessarily a full beard. Do a full beard like Charlie Daniels or Hank Williams Jr. and then we can talk.

I guess it's all subjective. Personally, I think the 80's had some of the most interesting fashions and designs ever, although I will admit, some of it was also quite out there.

There wasn't just one look in the 80's. There were a few big styles...preppy, rock groupie, Benneton/"high fashion", modern, western, business/nerd, etc. Some elements of all of these styles are nice. No different than any other time really except that this era saw the explosion of malls and credit cards so there was more available to buy for once so naturally there was a bit more crap compared to the 70's. The 90's were just as good (or bad). 90's.... Hip-hop/Wigger, hippie, indie rock, military, Sperrys/Keds, bounty hunter/karate/western badass...remember Cross Colours? Sagging, Carhartts, granny shoes, big hats, chola-looking makeup, choker necklaces, Egyptian symbols, baggy clothes?
