man i met online prevented me from committing suicide

This man just happened to me, I wasn't seeking anyone out but we met through social media and have been talking for months but only through text messages and have never met because of distance. I started talking to him when I was at a low point in my life, I was on the verge of committing suicide because my depression had gotten so bad at that time but there he was, like a drug or some sort of lifeline. Talking to him gives me purpose, makes me want to be a better person and it gives me something to look forward to, when we go for days without talking I get really depressed. he doesn't even know about my depression but I really need him in my life, I truly believe he came into my life for a purpose. I also think I'm falling in love with him. IIN?

I don't think it's love, I think it's dependence. This relationship obviously has had a wonderful effect on you, but you need to try to find a friend you can actually go have a cup of tea with and see face to face.
There are plenty of support groups around where people like you gather to lend each other support. I'm not saying to dump your online friend, but wean yourself far enough from him that if you don't talk to him for a few days, you don't tumble back into depression.
    Good luck.

Depression and suicidal tendencies is an illness.
It is not a way of life or that some people have that type of self worth.

    Depression is curable.

Your first point of contact should be your local doctor, who can then refer you to a specialist. For immediate help there are lifeline phone numbers you can call, where real people (possible ex-depressed people too) will help through your recovery.

You can still chat to this guy all you like. But before you try to be too serious to him, seek help first. Better he finally sees you happy inside and out :)
