2 likes a day just isn't enough

on this site you can only thumb things up 2 times a day, it may look like you can do more but in reality it won't show any additional likes you give.

What is this? are we kindergarteners? I wan't unlimited liking please.
because... you know... I want to show my support for more than 2 things a day for god sake.

honestly I think it is the one way this site fails. oh and how about a notification for when someone likes or dislikes your comment, maybe even with the users name!?

just a site with miles upon miles of lonely comments that no one can thumb up or down and vote on

I agree it's not enough 14
I disagree 2 is enough 0
I disagree we should have no thumbs up/down 0
we should have more than 2 but there should be a limit 3
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Maybe unlimited upvotes but limited downvotes. The thumb police already downvote stuff for no reason.

Totally agree with the first sentence. As for the second... I reserve judgment.

Yeah I agree. One time I talked about politics and every post i posted for a week after that had several thumbs down 🤣

From what another user told me, they originally made a thumb limit to deter trolls from targeting people and downvoting them and the limit on upvoting was because people complained at the time that only the popular users get upvotes. So in other words, people took the thumb system too seriously. (Because of that, notifications on what user downvoted your comment probably wouldn't work. There are too many immature people that would take it way too personally.) Perhaps it would work where it's unlimited upvotes, but the limit on downvotes stays?

who cares? I only use the web for entertainment certainly not to validate myself in any way. If you do, you're definitely leaning down on the loser spectrum.

    • It's less about wanting to see my own support , it's more about wanting to show support. I see nothing wrong with wanting to thumb up comments. A lot of times you don't want to reply to a comment but you rather just thumb it up. sure it's not a huge deal, nor would it matter to everyone , but is still see it at as a rather stupid rule that ultimately just amounts to way less engagement from users, would you agree to that on any level?

As you can see the creators of this site didn't exactly add a bunch of bells and whistles. The home page alone looks like they used the same font as the Brady Bunch intro.

          Haha you have a point.

        • ya, im happy with the simple format, But to me the fundamental of being able to engage with comments with simple thumbs up or heart just seems essential for user engagement, especially when its such a small community. The "best comment" sorter is no good half the time, plenty of good comments get lost in the muck. i'd find it much more fun if voting was not restricted.

Its alright, i don't give a damn about likes and dislikes, getting mass downvotes give me orgasms.

        • oh look, someone used one of there up-votes to bring you back to the all so popular zero. You'd have never known and may have guessed that not a single soul had ever read you comment. when in reality, a tug of war of war had taken place.

I had no idea there was an upvote limit :-(.

    I upvote tons of stuff.

    • yup if you refresh, you'll notice it actually won't count even though the thumb will show when you press it. Only two a day.....fun right?

Yes, I find it super annoying that I can't let people know that I appreciate their comments without commenting myself. I get why they limit downvotes, but upvotes just spread the positive vibrations. What's wrong with that, U?

I would absolutely lose my mind if other places were as restrictive as this nazi hate camp. I need my views, likes, and retweets, not just for basic attention but also validation! Gimme more!

    • This is my only camp, so i find it rather frustrating, and tbh it makes me even want to leave at times

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • well, that, maybe for some, but also to just show support. 3 dislikes and 3 up votes , commenter just sees zero and never knows anyone ever even read their comment.

It just ends up amounting to way less engagement from users imo.

If you can find more than two posts a day that you agree with here, then there's something very wrong with you.

Seriously, though, I'm not aware of this restriction. I just liked ten random replies that I vaguely agreed with, refreshed the page, and it appears that the lucky recipients all got the ego-strokes.

One thing I haven't been able to do for a very long time is down-vote, but that doesn't bother me.

Thats just silly talk, if you cant find more than two comments on here that you want to vote up after an hour or so of browsing, there must be something very wrong with you. I get your hyperbolic statement, it's funny because there IS a lot of trash, i agree. but to say there is so little value that two up-votes is adequate ammunition to show your support is just nonsense for most users imo.
