is it normal for my boss not to compensate for this?

So, i work at a grocery store night shift as a stocker. Our job is to fill the shelf with the groceries, and make sure the shelves look neat and full.
Usually, dairy truck gets to the store about 5am and by then the dairy manager has arrived and he unloads it.
But now , no one is gonna be in the store, besides night shift until 6am. Schedule changes. The truck is still gonna arrive at the same time and now we have to unload it. And still do our own grocery truck before we get to leave. It takes like 45-60 minutes for one of us to unload that truck. Should my boss compensate us for the extra time and work or should we just stop whining?

More work for the same money is essentially a pay cut.

If its still your normal hours, it's still part of your work shift. Just be glad you have a job right now. Harsh I know...

  • Raise the issue and explain clearly how you think this is unfair and suggest that there should be a solution.

I get 32 hrs a week. So i don't get overtime. Unless i work over 8 hours extra during the 4 days a week i get to work.

Ah, then he needs to compensate you for the extra hours anyway. If you're in the store and you're working then you should be getting paid, else he needs to explicitly order you not to work past your given hours.
