Stepheniewroe the series form her dream. the books werent guaranteed to suit everyone (according to Ms. Meyer) the only person who was guaranteed to like it was herself.

Wow. No wonder the book series sucked so much. Maybe she should had asked people, "Would you read this and actually enjoy this?"

Twilight hasn't effect how much I like stories about vampires. I do have to mention how great the books are though in comparison to the movies. They could've picked much better actors to play in the starring roles. They also should have followed the character roles and plot more closely to the book.

I really don't like the Twilight movies. The actors are horrible and the way they have altered them from the books is a disaster. I do think that if whoever made the movies stayed true to the books, didn't pick such atrocious actors, added more fangs, and would have cut out the part about vampires sparkling, the movies would have been so much more appealing. The books were okay, the movies were just awful. Twilight has indeed ruined the idea of vampires for me because the iconic vampire has gotten lost in this new-age bullshit.

Twilight ruined everything to do with vampires and werewolves. Where did these, gay, sparkly rejects come from? Vampires were awesome and mysterious before this outcast found the spotlight.

I HATE the werewolves nowadays. I read the first 3 books and they were okay but when it started getting immensly popular and those annoying fat girls start wearing "Team Jacob" shirts and shit like that, its just crossing the line. I cant look up werewolf now without that friggin gay Jacob guy showing off his discusting abs. Twilight RUINED werewolves.

Before I read Twilight, I read a series. I think it was 'Last wolf standing' or something like that. It was pretty good. I liked vampires before, but couldn't find too many decent books about them.

I cant comment because I love alllll vampires twilight was a little different but I just look at it as a different view point
like how I see them burst into flames as a different view point
one is obviously more popular but when I think of vampires in the sun I think of it as there skin gets red then starts to blister and acts like a burn from fire but doesn't really catch fire. of course that is my opinion and if I wanted to I could go on a big rant but I already feel like I'm getting off topic.

Yep; vampires were once one of my favorite things in the whole wide world, but then "Twilight" had to come and change the face of them now. Did you know that they've even spliced with "High School Musical" now? No; I'm not joking. Look up "I Kissed A Vampire". They're actually singing, dancing and everything. Oh creatures of the night, we hardly knew ye!

I thought vampires were cool long before Twilight. Never thought much about werewolves, though. But I still don't think they're nearly as awesome as vampires.

That being said, Twilight is still stupid.

Yes i loved Vamp and Werewolf stories but theres many things wrong with Twilight heres two. 1. jacob ISNT a werewolf, hes an animagus get the bloody facts right and 2. Stephenie Meyer needs to sort out her priorities.. VAMPIRES BURN IN SUNLIGHT ONLY FAIRIES SPARKLE IN LIGHT!!! :/

  • My option wasn't there. I'm female. Always loved vampires since I saw the Buffy film (early 90's) ooh and Count Duckula from the 80's. Interview with a Vampire and Bram Stoker's Dracula are awesome and beautiful films. HOWEVER!!! I DO like Twilight. The books that is, it's really good at taking you back to when you felt like that as a teenager. I don't really care about the fact they sparkle - they're all fiction anyway so what difference does it make if there's a bit of a change in the dynamic of a vampire? In Dracula they hate crucifixes, in Interview with a vampire they don't mind them at all. Doesn't mean either is wrong, they are all just stories!

    None of the above.

The mixture of vampirism and sexuality has been around for several decades.

The originator of the modern fascination was Bram Stroker, although Anne Rice has definitely made her own mark on the genre.

Other authors of note include Linda Lael Miller and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Miller's 4 book series on vampires was rather sweet and had some interesting notions, such as the ability to time travel to any time period the vampire has lived through; for example if you were made a vampire on January 1, 2001 and the date is now May 12, 2011, you could time travel to any point within that time frame. Also many of her vampires were "good" in that they only hunted scum of the earth - i.e. child molesters and rapists etc. Also of note... I never found her other books to be rather interesting. (Sorry Linda! Go back to writing vampire stories!)

Kenyon's series I particularly liked because it mixed some unusual ideas. Her series included Greek gods as characters - some of them quite interesting. Her vampires were "daimon" - cursed children of Apollo who drank blood because they liked it, but they mainly drank souls to stay alive past their 28th birthday. Most of her books focused on Dark-Hunters - people who died wrongfully and in exchange for a day of revenge they gave their souls to Artemis and pledged eternal service in hunting down the Daimons. And of course lots of romance and pretty good bedroom scenes.

Don't get me wrong - I really do like Twilight. I just know that...
    1) It's not the first vampire series out there
    2) It's not even the first series to ever mix vampires and romance or sexuality
    3) It's hardly the first series to ever change traditional vampire rules.*

    * Especially this one. Even Anne Rice changed some of the rules for her stories. In her books vampires were not affected by crosses. Louis (or was it Lestat - I forget) found them particularly beautiful. She also threw away the whole "vampires cast no reflection" rule.

It's interesting really. No one whines about Anne's changes, but make a vampire who can really go into sunlight and people get all offended and whiney about it.

And that's another thing... Lestat CAN go into sunlight - well for short periods of time. No one whined about that either.
