We broke up now but that's only because she can't handle people knowing about us due to our age differences. She has told me she loved me and ive done the same. we have done fuck loads of dirty stuff together and at one point I would come over everyday to see her.

I know alot of people will say yes It's normal and some people won't. I'm just really interested because her friends apart from one said if you love him go for it.

It will never be now due to everything that has happened.

Also please note if the gender was switched but our age was the same what would you think??

    It's not my place to judge you or her. You were both consenting adults. There was nothing wrong with your relationship. It's a shame that you are going to let the bond you have be affected due to the words of others. :(

    This is becoming a trend here. Even my friends who are 28-30 are dating only boys around 17-20. They told me that the young boys are not very difficult and fall in love easier. I know lots of couple where the lady is much more older. We are no longer shocked by this here.

    I think you need someone closer to your age. As a psychology major, I know how the brain works for both a male and female. I can say with not a shred of doubt that a male doesn't mature until he hits at least 30 while a females matures at 25. So with that said, you are even younger than you thought when compared to her. She's already old enough to be your Mother and has so much more maturity but then you factor in the fact you're not yet 30 and you're actually 23 years apart, mentally. This makes for a very difficult foundation and doesn't work out most of the time.

    If you like older women, I'd suggest dating someone 5 years older as the maximum age gap. Anything beyond that and you really will have difficulties maintaining the relationship.

      Yeah, I agree. I think the maturity levels and mindset are completely different and it won't make for the easiest bond! I can't imagine why people thumbed you down as I found it to be the most logical advice on this post.

      I am not against it but I'm certainly not in promotion of people dating those old enough to be their parents.

    Not particularly normal, but not necessarily a bad thing. All depends on the couple.

    Unfortunately, in this case, the age difference was clearly too much of a problem for her.
