20 year old female worried of aging...

I know that worrying makes wrinkles worse, so I try not to think about it...I've just seen how my Mom has aged...(she's also been a smoker since I can remember, so I know that's most of the problem) but I'm just so scared of aging...and everything dropping and not being firm anymore. Does anyone else worry about this? Any good anti aging products that you use? Any help...I feel psycho feeling this way at only 20!

I think that, unfortunately, you've fallen victim to the youth-obsessed marketing machine in America. Everything has become about image and is so objectified. There is no sense of the spiritual world as much as there used to be and the realization that we are more than our bodies and should be judged and valued for other things. I think, instead of focusing on some rigorous ant-aging regimen (although I am not saying not to take care of yourself, just don't obsess and go overboard), you should spend some time strengthening your spirituality--whether through religion or any other means. I think that that will help you out tremendously! Also, spend more time around people who are not so superficial and obsessed with looks. Aging is supposed to bring wisdom and peace...not stress us out. And in many cultures, the older you are the more respect you get from those around you and the more powerful you become. It's too bad that the media has brainwashed us into thinking the complete opposite! Even though I'm still young, I'm seriously considering retiring in a foreign country...don't know if I can put up with the crap older people have to deal with here.

I've worried about ageing ever since I was 16. At age 18 I've started to use anti ageing creams and stay out of the sun. My family worries about me. Just look after yourself and you'll look good.

your body is like a car, if you take care of it, it can be a nice old car. On the other hand if you abuse it it'll be used up after a while. Do this by not consuming processed food and non organic meat. (watch food inc if you want to see what crap we've been given thus far). consume wide variety colored fruits/veggies, and your energy affects your health. Don't dwell or wallow. Meditate and love the earth and don't stress.

Its not crazy to be scared about this. Im worried about this myself. I accepted that I age. I dont mind things hanging, but the loss of vitality(bones, joints losing flexibility etc.) Its this society that makes it look as a bad thing. Let me tell you one thing. IF THERE WAS A CURE FOR AGING, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN INTERNATIONAL NEWS, NOT SOME FRIGGIN' OINTMENT. Please dont buy (into) anti-aging creams, because they are not true and are designed to look true, but mostly to make money. Further, just follow up the good advice of other commenters.

you know what, dont worry, its normal, heck i was scared it was aging when i was 12, its natural to want to stay young but i think its just better to live in the moment, emrace it. every year you get older dont look back and think how much older you are, look back and think how much you have learnt and done and all the things you have to come, hope i can help :)

Eating heathy (vegetables, fruits, meats such as fish or chicken, nuts and beans are all great) helps. Also, it's important to work out. Taking care of your skin is soo important. Don't try to tan, wear sunblock and use lotion (on your face, neck, arms and legs). Nothing ages a person like cracked leather-like skin. Stress ages you so just relax about aging. You will get older but you don't have to fear it because you can age gracefully. Don't worry about and just enjoy life! Happiness= youth (:

You are only twenty right now, you should enjoy your time now, and using products won't really get you anywhere, so eat healthy food, don't smoke or do drugs, put on sunscreen though, and exercise, it will help you feel young and look young when you grow older.

  • Great advice - women are really made to feel their value is mainly measured by a youthful beauty myth.

Hey sure - do the healthy things - thats not the same.

But if you buy the myth, you are setting yourself up for a lifetime of self flagellation, disrespect & misery. Look at you now - only 20 and at it already! Are you enjoying it? No. Its making you psycho (and describe your mom in pretty unflattering terms. Not nice).

You are young so changing your attitude will be easier, and pay off longer.
