16 year age gap?

Is it normal or okay for a 22 year old to date a 38 year old? I am the 22 year old. I know nothing about him. We just met online and we started dating a few minutes afterwards. It's long distance and I don't think it's THAT serious. He is from Chicago and I live in Canada. I dont see anything wrong with it tbh.

I dont see the benefit in online dating someone from another country. It would be better to find a guy closer and not waste your time.

You’re an adult, you can date whoever you like, do as you wish.

Okay, I have to ask. Why are there so many posts here about people dating people way older than them, and why is it ALWAYS the younger party posting the thread? I don't want to know about your weird geriatric fantasies.

How is 30s geriatric 😂😂 My aunt is 14 years older than her husband and her husband looks way older than her anyway. She's 55 he's 41

I don't think so. One isn't a proper adult until the age of 25 and it is creepy for a nearly 40 year old man to chat up a 22 year old girl online. Men that age should be ready to settle down hence speak to women who are a bit older, which shows that he's either extremely mentally immature and can't get any women his own age or he's a creep who wants to date women who are as young as possible. The mere fact that you think you're dating someone you've never met says a lot about your level of maturity and experience, no offence. He knows that too, trust me.

I feel like 30 and 46 would of been still weird but less creepy. I agree 22 is so inexperienced and not fully mature enough at that age.

My aunt is 14 years older than her husband lol but she was 45 when she met him he was 31 they've been married a while now

My opinion is people can like whoever the fuck they want to, as long as they are not forcing or coercing them into sexual activity. That is ALL. I don't get what is so hard about that for people to understand.

It's normal and okay. Why are you opening a personal relationship to the evaluation of strangers? Why are you insecure about it if you like him, other people's judgment? This is not the way to go through life.

I wouldn't say it is that gross but it isn't something recommended people should do.

I think the original poster is better off meeting people closer to them.

The other one is barely out of high school. I wouldnt judge them too harshly.

Yes, just barely out of high school is just barely a legal adult. I would probably wonder if that person had neglect issues with their parents. It's not normal, or natural for someone that young to be willing to date someone old enough to be their parent.

... and as for the 38 year old, they are either incredibly immature, and possibly intellectually challenged, or they are some kind of pervert/predator to be interested in dating someone so much younger than them.

Yes likely for the young one, so why judge them? You just say some of the most stuck up shit I've ever heard.

I feel like the 22 year old probably has mental health issues regarding their family of origin, and not getting enough attention from their parents.

Early 20s up is more mature than say 18 just out of HS. So if ya worried about that 20 should be fine.

Not a big deal. I was 22 when I met my 28 year old ex husband, like ewww, he was as close to 30 as I was to 20...irrelevant.
I'm 43 now and my man is 57. We've been together for 7 years. My older brother is 44 and his woman is 30. They've been together for about 5 years and have a child together.

It's okay both are adults but it's a little weird because I feel like 22 is barely experienced as an adult if it were 30 and 46 not as bad but still not something I'd ever do. 10 years is the most for me.
