20, no cohesive social circle

Is it normal that i don't have a a cohesive social circle or group of friends? (i'm 20 and a guy). Until recently, ever since start of high school ( 7 years ago) i've been hanging out with people who one might consider 'geeks' or 'nerds' and this is mostly because my social skills back then were deplorable. Currently, i still hang out with them from time to time, but it's only if they invite me (when in a group setting- typically a party of some sort and this is maybe like every couple of months) or otherwise i just see like one or two of my friends on a spontaneous, unpredictable and unregular basis. I feel like i'm stuck in between and always looking to meet new people but it's hard to find both proper time these days and a new group, since everyone's so used to each other's company, etc. Is this normal?

    News Flash:

The older you get the less friends you have as your lives Gel into being either a success or a failure. Note that the more successful you are the less friends esp. Old Friends you will have or even want for that matter.

Wake up kid, you are not in High School any more.

if you are desperate for friends go find ones on PenPal or Facebook.

its not just about having friends, you need to have friends that will earn your trust, be loyal and respectful to you.
