21, female, and way too hairy!!

I'm a 21 year old female who is somewhat overweight, and have had excessive hair on my body since I was a child... Through out the years the hair had become thicker and much darker. I have it on my stomach, my chest (including my breasts), my back (especially my lower back), my neck (Not too much but it's there and kind of dark)... I am wondering Why I have so much hair and why I have not notice it fall off or thin out... I thought maybe at first it could be my thyroid but my blood has been tested and I have a normal level on that subject... Is this Normal?!

Poly cystic ovary syndrome. That causes excessive hair growth

I was going to say that too. I have a friend with polycystic ovaries, and she has similar symptoms.

  • Well nobody's perfect huh? We all have hair, some more than others. I say it's normal but if you aren't comfortable, there's many solutions to get rid of it.

It could be several things.. Are any of your family members in the same boat? Ask your parents about their parents and grandparents, it could be genetic. It could be your thyroid even though the tests say it isn't. Tests are not always accurate! You can have the hair removed just don't shave! If you shave it will come back darker and thicker. If it really is a bother for you talk with your doctor about what you might be able to do to have it removed, permanently! Just remember that people who love you, will always love you for WHO you are, not for what you look like!

Check with a doctor, or try laser removal, depilatory products, or hair bleaching.
