22 and never been to a club! i'm also afraid! iin?

I don't really have anyone I feel safe with that enjoys this scene to go with, besides I find it scary. When I think of clubbing I think of drunk guys hitting on you, people trying to spike your drink etc...
I really love techno, dub step & electronic music. I would love to try a club even if its for about 30 mins. is it normal I'm afraid ? Am I over thinking and most of all, is it safe ??

It's much easier to slip something into a girl's drink when she's not constantly holding it.

I agree with the above comment. Hold your drink at all times. When it is gone, take a small break to go dance / socialize etc before going for another drink. I have fallen prey to joints laced with pcp and other opiates, so do not take drags or drinks from people you do not know. Do not consume too much alcohol! Personally i would limit myself to 3. Keeps me sharp, under the legal limit and able to function.
I dont notice a lot of men making women uncomfortable. I am more a fan of the metal scene than dubstep though, so I cant say what your circumstances will be. If it makes you feel better, put a ring on your ring finger so you have an easy out. Say "I'm married", briefly flash your hand and carry on. Or just pretend you didnt hear them and keep moving. Those places are loud. Make a game plan for yourself before going out again. Determine how you will handle a situation before it happens, be prepared.
I think it is normal for people to have these worries in this day and age, but you have to live your life. Dont let fear or anxiety turn you into a hermit!

side note, The laced joints were offered to me by two guys I actually knew. Not at clubs. But it can happen anywhere, just something to be aware of.

    Depends on the club.

Most clubs I've been in are full of moderately-tipsy people who are just there to have a good time. However, I have been to clubs where I've literally seen men standing along the wall waiting to pounce on a lone woman, but that was honestly only once or twice.

Might sound funny, but if you're a girl, maybe try gay clubs to ease you into it? If you have any gay friends you could go with, that can get you used to the atmosphere of a club where there aren't any letching straight guys, until you feel ready to move onto the mainstream clubs.

    • Actually I was offered by my lesbian mate to go to a gay club couple years back. I was hesitant & didn't go because I was nervous to get hit on by a girl and I thought it was only for gay girls. She told me straight girls go there too but I was still chicken. I actually regret that now as I'm leaning towards girls more hehe. I actually am drawn to the amazing techno, electronic music that is being showcased, not the actual club scene.

I went clubbing once. I got hit on random guys that looked like they are in their late 30s.

Pretty bad experience. If you like EDM then go to an EDM concert. Don't go clubbing.

Electronic Dance Music. You said you liked techno, dubstep and electronic music. All of these sub-genres fall in to the genre of music called EDM.

In summary, it is a type of music thst you like.

You're not missing anything. Just a bunch of drunk idiots slobbing all over each other.
Stay out of them-you're better off without them.
