Wifes family

I can not relate to my wifes family at all. Went over there for a get together and everyone there is either a doctor, lawyer, or something fancy. They're extremely intelligent people. But I just dont find their conversations interesting at all and I find myself just sitting there quiet staring into the distance bored out of my mind.

Another thing odd to me is there is never alcohol at any of their family get togethers, which is the polar opposite of my family. When my family gets together there is drinking. Every get together has alcohol and we laugh really hard and tell stories.

I already know the answer that this is normal. Perhaps my family isnt. But just out of curiousity does your family get togethers have alcohol?

    I think very few guys get along with their in-laws. You’ve got to just take them for who they are, watch your words, and if your wife criticizes her family don’t ever, ever agree with her.

    Luckily everyone on both my sides are smart and drinkers. I would be happy to drink during events with people that don't like to have fun either way. There has to be someone? I am not sure I would stay in that fam if no one likes to let loose, especially during holidays. What a bore they must be.

      I like the family theyre good people and nice just not really outgoing.

    It sounds as though you grew up in a more outgoing environment while they were more reserved. A lot of people very rarely drink, and many don't drink at all. A friend of mine grew up in a household were no one drank in the entire family. (From my knowledge, he's the only one who does even now.)
